Sterling Planet<\/a>. -jsq\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nWiregrass Activists for Clean Energy (WACE) have made it clear from<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/wiregrass-ace.org\/\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"    class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b0177446842bf970d\" height=\"111\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b0177446842bf970d-pi.jpg\" width=\"212\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nthe start that biomass plants have a number of issues: 1) biomass<br \/>\nplants bear significant health risks; 2) biomass plants waste<br \/>\nenormous amounts of water; 3) biomass plants are risky investments<br \/>\nin an increasingly competitive energy sector; and 4) biomass plants<br \/>\ncontribute to global warming.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nIn the light of rising global temperatures, worsening drought<br \/>\nconditions, and dropping prices for solar panels, an increasing<br \/>\nnumber of people are understanding these simple truths.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Industrial Authority has to be congratulated for the courage to<br \/>\nadmit that energy from biomass plants is indeed more expensive than<br \/>\nenergy from solar plants, and we have not even figured in the costs<br \/>\nassociated with the consequences of air pollution coming from<br \/>\nbiomass plants.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n(For more information on biomass plants, here a testimony I recently<br \/>\ngave:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bredl.org\/pdf3\/120828_WACE-Comments-Docket_NO-E-100_SUB113.pdf\"><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.bredl.org\/pdf3\/120828_WACE-Comments-Docket_NO-E-100_SUB113.pdf<\/a>)\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAlthough this point has already been made earlier, note again that<br \/>\nsolar plants are much better alternatives, economically and<br \/>\nenvironmentally: they do not pollute our air, they do not need any<br \/>\nwater, and a huge spill of solar energy is simply called a sunny day<br \/>\n&#8230; of which we have plenty here in the south.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-Michael G.
