\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nin\r\n\r\nthe 22 July 2013 Work Session<\/a>\r\nHere is the letter discussed (“So at this point, in order to comply with the deadline submitted by EPD, it was necessary to go ahead and work with Lovell on this.”)\r\nand approved (“The water is good, right?”)\r\nat the\r\n\r\n23 July Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission<\/a>,\r\nobtained through an Open Records Request by April Huntley,\r\nplus a transcription.\r\nYou may wonder, as I do, why the county didn’t just put it online\r\nalong with the agenda, like so many other county commissions and\r\ncity councils do.\r\n

\r\nTranscription, mostly by\r\n\r\nTesseract OCR<\/a>,\r\nwhich even got the misspelling of Joe Pritchard’s name right.\r\nYou may be wondering, as I am, why the county doesn’t put such letters\r\non the web with the agenda, and as a parseable PDF instead of as a\r\nscanned image.\r\nI think we all know Jeffry S. Lovell did not compose that letter on a typewriter;\r\nit’s already in electronic format somewhere.\r\n

\r\nThis correspondence serves as notification that Lowndes County has\r\ncompleted evaluation oftreatment alternatives for reducing TTHM\/HAASs at\r\nthe Alapaha Water System. Based on removal efficiency, current operational\r\nexperience, and input from two public stakeholder meetings, the County\r\nhas narrowed down the treatment solution to either a resin treatment\r\ntechnology or a chemical treatment approach.\r\n

\r\nThe County began an eight (8) month treatment study beginning the week of\r\nJuly 15, 2013. The purpose for the extended pilot study is to confirm that\r\nthe treatment process chosen will adequately treat seasonal variations\r\nin raw water quality at the site. Full-scale installation of the chosen\r\ntechnology, process control equipment, and other ancillary improvements\r\nwill be completed by the end of March 2015.\r\n
