Italy REC solar photovoltaic\nplant\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe German bank has raised its 2013 global solar demand forecast to\n30 GW \u2014 representing a 20% year-on-year increase \u2014 on\nthe back of suggestions of strong demand in markets including India,\nthe U.S., China (around 7 to 10 GW), the U.K. (around 1 to 2 GW),\nGermany and Italy (around 2 GW).\n<\/p>\n<p>\nRooftop installations are, in particular, expected to be a main\nfocus, says Deutsche Bank. A trend for projects being planned with\neither &#8220;minimal\/no incentives&#8221; has also been observed, despite the\nbelief that solar policy outlooks are improving, particularly in the\nU.S., China and India, and &#8220;other emerging markets&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nMore analysis by\nJeff Spross in ThinkProgress 3 March 2013,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/03\/03\/1664481\/solar-report-stunner-unsubsidized-grid-parity-has-been-reached-in-india-italy-with-more-countries-coming-in-2014\/\">\nSolar Report Stunner: Unsubsidized \u2018Grid Parity Has Been Reached In India\u2019, Italy\u2013With More Countries Coming in 2014<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As <em>Renew Economy<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/2013\/deutsche-sees-sustainable-global-solar-market-in-2014-2014\">also\npoints out<\/a>,  this is the third report in the past month\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/03\/china-regains-lead-in-solar-and-wind-investment-financial-times.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017ee8f78026970d\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017ee8f78026970d-pi.jpg\"    \/><\/a>\nanticipating a bright future for the global solar market: UBS <a href=\"http:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/2013\/ubs-boom-in-unsubsidised-solar-pv-flags-energy-revolution-60218\">released\na report<\/a> that concluded an \u201cunsubsidized solar\nrevolution\u201d was in the works, \u201cThanks to significant\ncost reductions and rising retail tariffs, households and\ncommercial users are set to install solar systems to reduce\nelectricity bills \u2013 without any subsidies.\u201d And Macquarie Group <a href=\"http:\/\/reneweconomy.com.au\/2013\/macquarie-says-rooftop-solar-juggernaut-is-unstoppable-40618\">argued<\/a>\nthat costs for rooftop solar in Germany have fallen so far that even\nwith subsidy cuts \u201csolar installations could continue at a torrid\npace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\nHere in America, solar power installations <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2012\/12\/11\/1314671\/us-installs-record-amount-of-solar-so-far-in-2012-analyst-calls-it-the-opening-act-for-q4-boom\/\">boomed<\/a>\nover the course of 2011 and\n2012, even as the price of solar power systems <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/01\/22\/1478311\/solar-panel-prices-continue-seemingly-inexorable-decline\/\">continued\nto plunge<\/a>. To a large extent, the American solar boom <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/02\/20\/1616411\/honda-and-solarcity-partner-on-low-cost-home-solar-power-leases\/\">has\nbeen driven<\/a> by third party leasing agreements \u2014 which are\nheavily involved in rooftop installation.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on the international\nscene, the cost of manufacturing solar panels in China <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/02\/17\/1604661\/chinese-companies-projected-to-make-solar-panels-for-42-cents-per-watt-in-2015\/\">is\nexpected to drop<\/a> to an all-new low of\n42 cents per watt in 2015, and power generated from solar <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/climate\/2013\/02\/10\/1566881\/in-australia-wind-power-is-already-cheaper-than-fossil-fuels-and-solar-is-right-behind\/\">is\npredicted<\/a> to undercut that produced by both coal and most forms of\nnatural gas within a decade.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nSolar\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/07\/solar-already-beats-gas.html\">\nalready beats natural gas and coal<\/a>\nwhen you figure in that solar requires no fuel.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/industrial-park-from-green-grass-to-a-green-solar-future-decatur-county.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017d3f13854e970c\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d3f13854e970c-pi.jpg\"    \/><\/a>\nMaybe Georgia Power and Southern Company will finally get the message\nand\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/03\/levy-co-fl-nuke-likely-not-to-be-built.html\">\nstop the nuclear boondoggle.<\/a>\nImagine how much solar power Georgia Power could have already deployed\nfor what they have already billed customers for power nobody has gotten\nfrom the new nukes!\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/01\/googles-invests-in-wind-and-solar.html\">\nGoogle already bought<\/a> almost as much renewable solar and wind power\nas Vogtle 3 and 4 are supposed to produce, and Google spent less.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nIt&#8217;s not too late for Georgia to get moving on the huge solar economic\npotential for our state\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/05\/georgia-3-state-that-could-benefit-most-from-solar-electricity.html\">\nspelled out by ASU two years ago.<\/a>\nGeorgia Power can lead Georgia and Southern Company can lead\nthe southeast in leading the country to a real renewable future.\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/05\/wind-power-and-the-southern-company-seth-gunning-so-2012-05-23.html\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017ee8f78028970d\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017ee8f78028970d-pi.jpg\"   width=\"103\" height=\"106\"  \/><\/a>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/05\/wind-power-and-the-southern-company-seth-gunning-so-2012-05-23.html\">\nIt&#8217;s time to choose<\/a>:\ncontinue to drag us behind,\nor become a leader in jobs and economic development in clean energy in the south.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-jsq\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Solar power is going so well worldwide that Deutsche Bank has just increased its projections for global demand, noting that India and Italy have already in 2013 reached grid parity without subsidies with other sources of energy, and it expects the rest of the world to follow as early as 2014.
