This is\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.freep.com\/article\/20130506\/NEWS06\/305060132\/1001\/news\">\r\nreportedly the ninth time<\/a> that the facility has been shut down since 2011.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/nrc\/reactor\/status\/palisades.timeline.php?zoomstarttime=2011-01-01\">\r\nNope, ten times<\/a>; count &#8217;em:\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/govt\/nrc\/reactor\/status\/palisades.timeline.php?zoomstarttime=2011-01-01\" title=\"Palisades nuke down 11 times since 2011\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2844\/9456371331_b281c15a0f_z.jpg\" alt=\"Palisades nuke down 11 times since 2011\"><\/a>\r\n<p>\r\nAnd it stayed down from May 6th to June 17th 2013.\r\nPlus who knows what it&#8217;s leaking now that they didn&#8217;t bother to take it down for?<!--more-->\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nThe public can generally count on the NRC&#8217;s risk assessments and its\r\nwillingness to get tough with operators of nuclear plants that have\r\nrecurring problems, said Alan Jackson, a radiation health physicist\r\nat Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nYeah, that&#8217;s what Californians counted on about San Onofre,\r\nonly to discover NRC wouldn&#8217;t even show the public\r\nSouthern California Edison&#8217;s documents that were their excuse\r\nfor trying to restart it because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/12\/nrc-says-its-never-been-a-practice-to-show-licensee-documents-to-the-public.html\">&#8220;it&#8217;s\r\nnever been a practice&#8221;<\/a> to show licensing documents to the public for any reactor.\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/san-onofre-nuke-closing-for-good-socal-edison.html\">\r\nSan Onofre is shut down<\/a> because of\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/05\/san-onofre-off-forever-soon-2.html\">\r\nnon-governmental activists<\/a>\r\nwith a little help from the California Public Utilities Commission.\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/news-media-finally-reporting-fukushima-leaking-radioactive-water-into-ocean.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/fukushimaupdate.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/noaawater-300x208.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nThe Japanese people depended on their nuclear officials to oversee\r\nTEPCO about Fukushima, but that didn&#8217;t happen for two years\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/news-media-finally-reporting-fukushima-leaking-radioactive-water-into-ocean.html\">\r\nwhile Fukushima leaked into the air and the ocean<\/a>\r\nand it continues to do so.\r\n<p>\r\nMeanwhile, stateside, the EPA wants to\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/08\/epa-raising-radiation-limits-comment-period-still-open.html\">\r\nraise radiation limits<\/a> even after tuna have been caught off California\r\nwith radioactive isotopes from Fukushima.\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nWhat should be of concern to regulators and the public, Jackson\r\nsaid, is whether any nuclear power plant has enough of a culture of\r\nsafety in place.
