Wind energy as the clean energy\nsource, and gas-to-power as the balancing power,&#8221; Carsten Krogsgaard\nThomsen, DONG Energy&#8217;s acting CEO, said.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nMeanwhile, Windpower Monthly reported 13 August 2012,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.windpowermonthly.com\/channel\/offshore\/news\/1145060\/Dong-issues-2012-profit-warning\/\">\nDong issues 2012 profit warning<\/a>,\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nDong Energy has issued a profit warning for 2012, forecasting\nfull-year EBITDA to go down by about 10% on last year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHowever, its wind energy division achieved sharp increases in profit\nand revenue during the first six months (H1) of the year. Further\ngrowth of Dong&#8217;s wind business is expected soon, thanks to new UK\nand Danish offshore capacity coming online during H2.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nBack in the Reuter&#8217;s article:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nA series of European Commission road maps envisage virtually\ncarbon-neutral power generation by the middle of the century.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nUnless carbon capture and storage can be developed on a commercial\nscale, that means gas as a fuel has a limited future and should not\nbe invested in too heavily, environmental campaigners say.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThey are especially against shale gas, whose environmental\ncredentials are questioned in Europe.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;We need natural gas as a transition fuel. However, we don&#8217;t need\nsuch a huge amount of gas and certainly not cheap gas, because that\nwould kick out not just coal, but also renewables,&#8221; Greenpeace\nrenewable energy director Sven Teske said.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nIt&#8217;s not clear even shale gas will actually have much effect on\nthe growth of solar, because solar has Moore&#8217;s Law going for it,\ncontinually reducing price per watt.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nPS: Owed to Michael G.
