\r\nNo letters from Lowndes County back to Sabal Trail were included in\r\nthe open records response of last week, so should we conclude\r\nthe county has not authorized surveys on any of its properties?\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe request to Lowndes County was for correspondence with Sabal Trail Transmission LLC about the proposed\r\nnatural gas pipeline from Anniston, Alabama to Orlando, Florida,\r\nand the response included\r\nsurvey authorization forms for a list of\r\nparcels owned by Lowndes County, plus assorted descriptions and\r\nmaps with very little detail.\r\nSabal Trail still didn’t have a contract with Florida Power and Light,\r\n\r\nyet expected:<\/a>\r\n

\r\n“Field survey work is scheduled to begin in September 2013.” \r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nIt looks like Sabal Trail sent letters about a bunch of parcels and then more about another one later.\r\nFirst they sent\r\nan introduction 19 June 2013<\/a> listing\r\nparcels 0146A-074-A, 0171 178, 0172 119, 0204 001,\r\nincluding a map<\/a>.\r\nThis appears to be the same map\r\n\r\nwe’ve seen before posted by various news media<\/a>:\r\n

\r\nThen they sent\r\n\r\na letter 22 June 2013<\/a> with\r\n\r\na survey authorization form<\/a>\r\nfor the same parcels.\r\nThen they sent separate letters 25 June 2013 for parcels\r\n0146A-074-A<\/a>,\r\n0171 178<\/a>,\r\nand\r\n0172 119, 0204 001<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAlso on 25 June 2013\r\n\r\nLowndes County Chairman Bill Slaughter informed us<\/a>:\r\n

\r\nLowndes County does not benefit from this proposal and has no\r\nresponsibility for the approval other than that of a property owner\r\npotentially impacted by the proposed route as any other property owner\r\nin Lowndes County would be.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nApparently Sabal Trail thought of another one, because a few weeks later\r\nthey sent\r\n\r\na cover letter 15 July 2013<\/a>\r\nfor Parcels 0098 003, 0098 004 with\r\na slightly more detailed map<\/a>,\r\nfollowed a few days later by\r\na survey authorization form 19 July 2013<\/a>.\r\n
