\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nValdosta Mayor Gayle attended, apparently because of\r\n\r\nthe SPLOST VII presentation<\/a>.\r\nEmily Golden for DFCS<\/a>.\r\nPrisoners<\/a> for wastewater,\r\nanother wastewater problem<\/a>,\r\ninsurance for liabilty<\/a>,\r\nand I’m not the only one who\r\nmakes jokes at Joe Pritchard’s expense<\/a>.\r\nThey vote tonight at 5:30 PM, and apparently they’re going to give the SPLOST presentation again, too.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

      \r\n\r\n\"Pritchard<\/a>\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard was also confused as to\r\n\r\nwhat did the Commissioners approve<\/a>\r\nregarding the “conjoined” items in the 9 July Regular Session:\r\n

          \r\n\r\n\"Commissioner<\/a>\r\nPritchard noted County Attorney Walter Elliott referred to the\r\npurchase orders\r\nfor item 6.a., saying purchase orders item 6.b. were “not present”.\r\nPritchard wanted to know if Commissioners approved both of them.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\n\r\n\"County<\/a>\r\nCommissioner Crawford Powell said he thought the way “Walter”\r\nstated it they didn’t approve either one of them.\r\nLittle joke.\r\n“Walter” got it, and eventually Pritchard did, too, after everyone\r\nelse laughed.\r\nThen Powell clarified that they had approved both items.\r\n\r\n\"County<\/a>\r\nWhich anyone can see in\r\n\r\nthe LAKE video of those items<\/a>.\r\nHm, if the Commission kept their own videos, Pritchard could have\r\njust looked at those and seen.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        3. \r\n\r\nSpecial Presentation & Consideration — Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax VII <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nThere was something new in what Joe Pritchard said:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\nCommissioners each had an opportunity for independent review and evaluation.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

            \r\nThree details at $39,500 each, no increase from last year, said Public Works Director\r\nRobin Cumbus;\r\nsee\r\n\r\nother post<\/a> for what Commissioners Marshall, Slaughter, and Powell had to say.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          2. \r\n\r\n\"Lake<\/a>\r\n\r\nLetter to Environmental Protection Division concerning Alapaha Water Treatment Plant Upgrade<\/a>\r\n

            \r\nIt’s because of a notice of violation from GA EPD, said Utilities Director Mike Allen,\r\nand he’d been working with Lovell Engineering on a letter to say the problem\r\nof disinfection byproducts would be fixed by the end of March 2015.\r\n

            \r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall wanted to know if \r\nLovell Engineering would be submitting “on our behalf, or would we be submitting it?”\r\nSee\r\n\r\nseparate post<\/a> for more.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          3. \r\n\r\nContract with GA Department of Transportation for Off System Safety Action Program <\/a>\r\n

            \r\nThe county has received a grant from GDOT for striking, signs, and\r\nraised pavement markers for 30.79 miles of road, for $142,491.75.\r\n

            \r\nI will also give you a copy of the roads that will be restruck\r\nunder this contract.\r\nCommissioners had no questions.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

            \r\nWhy wasn’t that copy in the board packet and online with the agenda?\r\nHow can you find out if your road is on that list?\r\nFile an open records request.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          4. \r\n\r\n\"County<\/a>\r\n<\/a>\r\nAdopt Resolution accepting infrastructure for Barrington Subdivision Phase I<\/a>\r\n

            \r\nEngineer said it was mostly complete but they were waiting on a punch list\r\nfrom the developer before signing off on it.\r\nCommissioners had no questions.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          5. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nACCG IRMA Liability Program Renewal<\/a>\r\n

            \r\nSo the county does have liability insurance that covers Commissioners,\r\nand all other employees, too.\r\nSee\r\n\r\nseparate post<\/a>.\r\n

          6. \r\n\r\nResolution for ACCG-GEBCorp Retirement Eligibility Amendment<\/a>\r\n

            \r\nCouple of new employees missed being in county’s retirement plan,\r\nand this deals with that.\r\nSee\r\n\r\nseparate post<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

          7. \r\n\r\nReports-County Manager<\/a>\r\n

            \r\nNo report, but he asked for an executive session “for purposes of\r\nattorney-client communications”.\r\n

            \r\nIn\r\n\r\nthis video of them returning from that executive session<\/a>,\r\nyou can see local attorney Tom Gooding coming out of the side room with them.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
