A check<br \/>\nof the firm&#8217;s coverage map shows virtually every other major metro<br \/>\narea in Georgia with LTE, while many smaller communities in the<br \/>\nstate also have the top-of-the-line service.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nElsas, in a statement, said the company uses HSPA+ technology<br \/>\nlocally and those 4G speeds &ldquo;are incredibly fast &mdash; up to<br \/>\nfour times faster than 3G.&rdquo; But she also acknowledged there is<br \/>\nwork to be done on adding spectrum, or capacity, to the Columbus<br \/>\nnetwork.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/9309392854\/sizes\/z\/\" title=\"Verizon coverage map (top)\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7439\/9309392854_5655f34c84_n.jpg\" alt=\"Verizon coverage map (top)\"><\/a><br \/>\n&ldquo;As far as LTE, there is currently a lack of available<br \/>\nspectrum in Columbus, and we are working hard to address<br \/>\nthis,&rdquo; the statement said. &ldquo;In the meantime,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/9306608021\/sizes\/z\/\" title=\"Verizon coverage map (bottom)\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7458\/9306608021_05fb08c4ba_n.jpg\" alt=\"Verizon coverage map (bottom)\"><\/a><br \/>\n we continue<br \/>\nto invest in technology, strengthen our network and seek<br \/>\nopportunities to offer the best wireless experience possible in the<br \/>\nregion.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\n&#8220;Possible&#8221; of course includes<!--more--> they can milk profits out of it.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve got no objection to a business making a profit, but the incumbents have been<br \/>\nholding back U.S. Internet access speeds for a decade or more because they could<br \/>\nroll in the dough from what they already had out there, and I&#8217;m more than a little<br \/>\nsceptical that that philosophy has changed at T or VZ.<br \/>\nAlthough the fear of<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/softbank-buying-sprint-buying-clearwire-for-better-internet.html\"><br \/>\nbeing outflanked by Sprint<\/a><br \/>\nmay have something to do with these recent rollouts.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The company has said it now has 4G LTE in 328 markets, serving 225<br \/>\nmillion people. It expects to complete a nationwide rollout of LTE<br \/>\nby the end of 2014. Nearly 90 percent should be up and running by<br \/>\nthe end of this year, however. AT&amp;T has invested $3.9 billion in<br \/>\nGeorgia since 2010.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&ldquo;We are certainly not finished here in Georgia, and we value<br \/>\nand appreciate our Columbus-area customers&#8217; understanding and<br \/>\nsupport as we work hard to make the necessary improvements they<br \/>\nexpect and deserve,&rdquo; the statement from Elsas said.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nEventually, but don&#8217;t hold your breath.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nTodd Haselton wrote for TechoBuffalo 19 June 2013,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.technobuffalo.com\/2013\/06\/19\/att-4g-lte-market-expansion\/\"><br \/>\nAT&amp;T Activates Six New LTE Cities, Total Now at 284 Markets<\/a>,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nAT&amp;T says it&#8217;s still on track to cover 300 million people in the<br \/>\nUnited States by the end of 2014 but that more than 200 million<br \/>\npeople already have access to 4G LTE.
