\r\nThey approved setting millage rates 8:30 AM Friday 26 July 2013\r\nthat’s for the property taxes they collect,\r\nat the\r\n\r\n9 July 2013 Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard reminded Commissioners they were required\r\nto set a date to set tax millage.\r\n\r\nFinance Director Stephanie Black<\/a> said:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"Finance<\/a>\r\nYou can have it as early as the\r\n26th of July,\r\nbut it has to be done and ready for the tax commissioner by July 31st.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nCounty Manager wanted to know if there would be a quorum present for\r\n26 July 2013 at 8:30.\r\nChairman asked for a show of hands, and got two, which is not a quorum.\r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall checked his calendar and said he could\r\nalso attend, and three is a quorum.\r\nCommissioner John Page asked if this was the day they previously\r\nhad been advised in an email.\r\nAnswer: no, that was Thursday, and this date is a Friday.\r\nCounty Manager also clarified that they couldn’t set their millage\r\nuntil the School Board did.\r\nCommissioner Marshall noted he had previously been told the 25th,\r\nand once again staff admitted that was so.\r\nThree days later, there is still nothing on\r\n\r\nthe county’s online calendar<\/a>\r\nfor 26 July 2013.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
