{"id":4484,"date":"2013-07-03T15:55:18","date_gmt":"2013-07-03T19:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=4484"},"modified":"2013-07-03T15:57:25","modified_gmt":"2013-07-03T19:57:25","slug":"ads-buys-three-more-waste-companies-one-in-valdosta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/07\/ads-buys-three-more-waste-companies-one-in-valdosta.html","title":{"rendered":"ADS buys three more waste companies, one in Valdosta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\nThat&#8217;s five ADS purchases since Veolia.\r\nSo much for\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/04\/videos-of-the-landfill-gas-energy-meeting-2013-04-15.html#ADS\">\r\nSteve Edwards not being able to foresee any\r\nfurther acquisitions back in April<\/a>.\r\nSomebody remind me, why was it a good idea for\r\nthe Lowndes County Commission granting\r\nan\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/exclusive-franchise-for-solid-waste-collection-services-lcc-2012-12-11.html\">\r\nexclusive franchise<\/a> to a monopoly that&#8217;s only getting bigger,\r\nand already had\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/more-clues-to-how-much-garbage-collection-fees-will-go-up.html\">\r\nlittle reason to keep prices down<\/a>?\r\nCounty Commissioners certainly\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/adjourn-into-trash-excuses-lcc-2013-06-11.html\">\r\nhave not been able to explain it<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAllan Gerlat wrote for Waste Age 2 July 2013,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/waste360.com\/mergers-and-acquisitions\/advanced-disposal-buys-three-waste-haulers\">\r\nAdvanced Disposal Buys Three Waste Haulers<\/a>,\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.advanceddisposal.com\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.advanceddisposal.com\/Images\/homeLogo.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nAdvanced Disposal Services Inc. continued its recent buying spree\r\nwith the acquisition of waste haulers in Pennsylvania, Georgia and\r\nIllinois.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThe Ponte Vedra, Fla.-based Advanced Disposal said in news releases\r\nit purchased Winsor Disposal in Kane Pa.; Valdosta Waste Services in\r\nValdosta, Ga.; and Benson Disposal Services Inc. in Macon, Ill.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nHere&#8217;s a list of just the ADS purchases I know of, not counting the rumor:<!--more-->\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n2012 November:\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/ads-buys-at-your-disposal.html\">\r\nVeolia<\/a>\r\n<li>\r\n2013 May 1:\r\nWaste hauling assets of\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/waste360.com\/mergers-and-acquisitions\/advanced-disposal-buys-waste-hauling-assets-tennessee\">\r\nRW Edwards Equipment Co.<\/a>\r\n<li>\r\n2013 June 4:\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/ads-buys-at-your-disposal.html\">\r\nAt Your Disposal<\/a>\r\n<li>\r\n2013 July 2: Winsor Disposal, Valdosta Waste Services, Benson Disposal Services\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>\r\nJason Schaefer wrote for the VDT today,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostadailytimes.com\/local\/x881889704\/Advanced-Disposal-acquires-Valdosta-Waste\">\r\nAdvanced Disposal acquires Valdosta Waste:\r\nGarbage company adds 7,000 clients in surrounding counties<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nAdvanced Disposal, the waste disposal company contracted with\r\nLowndes County for curbside trash and recycling pick-up in\r\nunincorporated areas, acquired Valdosta Waste Services, expanding\r\nits service to 7,000 new customers in surrounding South Georgia\r\ncounties.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nService will remain the same, but Advanced Disposal&#8217;s trucks will\r\nnow serve the cities of Quitman, Berlin, Alapaha, Nashville, Ocilla\r\nand Pearson and the counties of Echols, Brooks, Thomas, Cook,\r\nLanier, Berrien, Atkinson, Colquitt and Irwin in addition to\r\nLowndes.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allgreenservices.net\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:279px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allgreenservices.net\/files\/theme\/header_right.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nThere&#8217;s a persistent rumor that ADS has also bought another local\r\nwaste disposal company (no, not Deep South Sanitation),\r\nbut I have not yet seen any confirmation, and my call to\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.allgreenservices.net\/\">\r\nAllGreen Services LLC<\/a>\r\nhas not been returned.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"That&#8217;s five ADS purchases since Veolia.
