\r\nThe homeless formerly living under the\r\n\r\nJames Beck Overpass<\/a>\r\nnow have homes and most have jobs,\r\n\r\nsaid Valdosta City Council Deidra White<\/a>\r\nat last night’s\r\n\r\nLowndes County Democratic Party<\/a> Annual 4th of July Barbecue.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWhite said the encampment under the overpass had been growing\r\nfor some time, and people in her district, which contains\r\nthe overpass, were increasingly concerned\r\nyet had had little success in dealing with the situation.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"Deidra<\/a>\r\nSo I contacted many people in the community,\r\nhomeless advocates, churches, governmental, civil,\r\nnonprofits; anyone that I’ve ever come across who has ever\r\nworked in any capacity helping with the homeless situation.\r\nAnd in a very,almost seemingly the stars all lined up a couple\r\nof weeks ago.\r\nMany people came together to do something\r\nabout the specific eleven homeless persons who were living\r\nunder the James Beck Overpass.\r\n

\r\nA private citizen donated property and said\r\nthat they could stay on this property for a temporary time\r\nuntil we find a permanent solution.\r\nMembers of the homeless coalition immediately\r\nbegan identifying potential employers….\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
