McClure wrote for the VDT 11 September 2012,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostadailytimes.com\/local\/x72176564\/School-boards-to-adopt-resolution-against-charter-school-amendment\">\nSchool boards to adopt resolution against charter school amendment<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n\u201cThe Lowndes County and Valdosta City Boards of Education\nrequest that the Governor and State Legislators commit their support\nto adequately fund a first-class K-12 public education for students\nin Lowndes County and Valdosta City and across the state of\nGeorgia,\u201d the resolution states.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostadailytimes.com\/local\/x72176564\/School-boards-to-adopt-resolution-against-charter-school-amendment\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017ee3f24f60970d\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017ee3f24f60970d-pi.jpg\"    \/><\/a>\nThe resolution explicitly states that the boards are asking voters\nto not support the Constitutional Amendment relative to state\ncharter schools.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nValdosta Board of Education did that at their\n<a href=\"https:\/\/eboard.eboardsolutions.com\/Meetings\/ViewMeetingOrder.aspx?S=4166&amp;MID=26227\">\n10 September 2012 meeting:<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\n<h3>\nCharter School Amendment Resolution\u2014Mrs. Beeland\u2014action\nrequired\n<\/h3>\n<p>\nThe joint resolution was developed by Dr. Cason and Wes Taylor of\nLowndes County Schools, by combining parts of four samples, to make\na strong resolution. A motion was made by Mr. Love to approve the\nresolution. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lee and passed with a\nvote of 9-0.\n<br \/><br \/>\nMotion made by: Mr. William Love\n<br \/>\nMotion seconded by: Mr. Warren Lee\n<br \/>\n<br \/>\nVoting\n<br \/>\nUnanimously Approved\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nThat was the same night that Dr. Troy Davis of the Lowndes school system\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/09\/the-charter-school-amendment-is-about-control-dr-troy-davis-lcdp-2012-07-10.html\">\nspoke at the LCDP meeting.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nLowndes County Board of Education adopted the joint resoultion at their\n<a href=\"https:\/\/eboard.eboardsolutions.com\/Meetings\/ViewMeetingOrder.aspx?S=4106&amp;MID=27372\">\n17 September 2012 meeting<\/a>,\nas part of a consent agenda, motion by Fred Wetherington,\nseconded by Mike Davis, unanimously approved.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThen representatives of both school districts attended a meeting\nin Tifton along with people from other school systems, according to\nBrittany D. McClure  in the VDT 20 September 2012,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostadailytimes.com\/local\/x72192863\/School-systems-meet-to-oppose-the-Charter-School-Amendment\">\nSchool systems meet to oppose the Charter School Amendment<\/a>,\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nFor those questioning the legality of school officials lobbying for\na ballot question, Angela Palm, GSBA director of policy and legal\nservices, said that there is noting illegal about it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cWhen teachers are on their own time &#8230; they can do whatever\nthey want,\u201d said Palm.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cTeachers are taxpayers, too, and we&#8217;ll be affected as\ncitizens and in our careers,\u201d said Tucker.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nLowndes County Schools Superintendent Wes Taylor also supported the\nefforts of his teachers.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cWe would encourage our staff as well as our students to be\ngood citizens and inform themselves and become educated on any issue\nas well as acquaint themselves with candidates and issues,\u201d\nsaid Taylor.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile schools are not allowed to produce literature or explicitly\nstate to vote one way or another, they are allowed to produce\ninformation that educates people on the issue.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nBut what does the joint resolution actually say?
