He was charged with 31 counts including theft, false\r\nswearing, conspiracy to defraud the state and racketeering.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"www.ajc.com\/news\/judge-throws-out-cobb-882219.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:94px;\" src=\"http:\/\/media.cmgdigital.com\/shared\/lt\/lt_cache\/thumbnail\/188\/img\/photos\/2012\/08\/11\/f8\/ec\/Cobbemc_0110_ba01_874664a_1.JPG\"><\/a>\r\nSo former Gov. Roy Barnes may have briefly\r\n<a href=\"www.ajc.com\/news\/judge-throws-out-cobb-882219.html\">\r\ngotten Dwight Brown off on a technicality<\/a>,\r\nbut that show&#8217;s back on the road,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/01\/pro-coal-electric-co-exec-indicted.html\">\r\ntwo and a half years after it began<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/04\/were-just-ripe-for-solar-power-cobb-emc.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:140px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b0163045a812e970d-pi.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nMeanwhile,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/11\/cobb-emc-members-win-board-election-in-landslide.html\">\r\ninsurgents won a majority on Cobb EMC&#8217;s board<\/a>\r\nand Cobb EMC is<!--more--> out of the coal plant business\r\nand Cobb&#8217;s new CEO Chip Nelson is\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/04\/were-just-ripe-for-solar-power-cobb-emc.html\">\r\ninto the solar business<\/a>.\r\n<p>\r\n\r\nThe mere threat of\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/07\/sidewalk-snaps-up-behind-coal-in-georgia.html\">insurgents running<\/a>\r\ncaused Snapping Shoals EMC to back out of Power4Georgians, the coal-pushing\r\nEMC consortium.\r\nThe\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/08\/incumbents-won-snapping-shoals-emc-board-election.html\">\r\nincumbents won<\/a>,\r\n\r\nbut Snapping Shoals is still not doing coal any more.\r\n<p>\r\nMaybe some other EMCs and big utilities should change course\r\nbefore their boards get replaced.\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/07\/sidewalk-snaps-up-behind-coal-in-georgia.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:360px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b0167688063f4970b-pi.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nSouthern Company\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/05\/kemper-coal-crashes-southern-company-rating-and-stock-price.html\">\r\ngetting downgraded by S&amp;P for Kemper Coal<\/a>\r\nwith strong hints the same could happen over\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/from-15-to-19-months-late-plant-vogtle-nukes.html\">\r\nnuclear Plant Vogtle<\/a>\r\ncould be a sign that SO and Georgia Power\r\nneed to\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/brother-and-sister-students-speak-truth-to-georgia-powers-psc.html\">\r\nget on out of coal<\/a>\r\nand\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/the-cloudy-day-doesnt-last-for-an-entire-month-john-s-quarterman.html\">\r\nget on into solar and wind<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Cobb EMC&#8217;s former CEO, who pushed coal plants and is charged with a variety of crimes, still can be prosecuted.
