\r\nI recommend people go to\r\n\r\ntonight’s budget “hearing”<\/a>\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nand see what’s said, and maybe even try to ask some questions.\r\nI’m staying home; here’s why.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nSince\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nAshley Paulk is apparently still running the County Commission<\/a>,\r\nI’m going by\r\n\r\nAshley Paulk’s stated theory<\/a>\r\nthat citizens provide input to the budget process at every meeting.\r\nI already provided mine\r\n14 May 2013<\/a>:\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nWhy, if it wasn’t a good use of taxpayer money to defend a lawsuit\r\nthat was only potential, that might not even happen, why is it a\r\ngood use of taxpayer money to initiate a lawsuit against a business\r\nin the county that has a valid business permit?\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nCurrent Chairman Bill Slaughter refused to answer at that time.\r\nIf they mentioned that in their\r\nbudget discussion meeting<\/a> I must have\r\nmissed it in the videos Gretchen took.\r\nIf they mentioned it in\r\n\r\nlast Tuesday’s first budget hearing<\/a>,\r\nthe VDT didn’t report it.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nBut maybe it will be different from last year when I asked\r\nwhy the county attorney seemed to be overbudget and got no answer.\r\nI would have brought that up at the\r\n\r\n28 June 2011 Budget Hearing<\/a>,\r\nexcept then-Chairman Ashley Paulk slammed down the gavel to\r\nadjourn the meeting before anybody could stand up to speak.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nMaybe new Chairman Bill Slaughter will actually let people speak,\r\neven though he, like Chairman Paulk, did not publish the proposed\r\nbudget for people to see before they approve it.\r\nI recommend you go and see.\r\nMe, I already went.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
