\r\nI guess some things are just not to be questioned,\r\nat least at\r\n\r\nthis morning’s Lowndes County Commission Regular Session<\/a>.\r\nHowever, although Commissioners did not, I do have a question.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n

\r\n5.b. Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nCounty Chairman Slaughter:\r\n

\r\n“Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority Appointment.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\nCounty Manager Pritchard:\r\n
\r\n“The term currently held by Ashley Paulk will expire June 30th.\r\nMr. Paulk has expressed an interest in being reappointed if the \r\nboard so chooses.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\"Any<\/a>\r\n\r\nCounty Chairman Slaughter: \r\n

\r\n“Any questions?\r\n<\/p>

\r\nOK, hearing none, let’s move on to agenda item number 6.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nI have a question.\r\nWhy isn’t it listed by its actual name, the\r\n\r\nValdosta-Lowndes County Parks & Recreation Authority<\/a>,\r\nsince it is one of those\r\n\r\nHB 489<\/a>\r\nauthorities that were created to avoid duplication of services\r\nbetween Valdosta and Lowndes County?\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\nHere’s then-Chairman Ashley Paulk\r\n\r\n10 July 2012<\/a> saying VLPRA\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\n“is totally funded by the county as one of the services\r\nthe county provides county-wide, city and county”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nBe that as it may, how does that change its name or its HB 489 status?\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nMeanwhile, back in\r\n\r\n8 June 2010<\/a>\r\nwhen Ashley Paulk was originally appointed,\r\nit was a reaction to the Valdosta City Council appointing\r\none of its own Council members, Robert Yost.\r\nBut\r\n\r\nYost isn’t on VLPRA any more<\/a>, nor is any other Valdosta City Council\r\nmember.\r\nSo why now is this Commission reappointing Ashley Paulk to VLPRA?\r\n<\/p>\r\n
