\r\nOnce again the big topic was trash, and it wasn’t on the agenda.\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe Chairman made up a rule to limit citizen speakers to\r\n\r\n15 minutes total<\/a>.\r\nAfter five citizens managed to speak anyway, all to applause, and\r\nthe owner of Deep South Sanitation<\/a>\r\ngot a standing ovation,\r\nthe Commissioners offered\r\n<\/a>\r\nnothing but excuses.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

      3. \r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nValdosta\/Lowndes County Zoning Board of Appeals <\/a>\r\n

        \r\nPaul Alvarado applied to be reappointed to ZBOA.\r\nSee\r\n\r\nseparate post<\/a> for details.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

      4. \r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nPublic Hearing — REZ-2013-06 Hughes, 3776 White Water Rd. C-G to C-H, LC Water & Septic,~1.59 acres <\/a>\r\n

        \r\nStaff recommended this zoning change from general commercial to highway commercial.\r\nApplicant Dale Hughes said he bought the property in 2000\r\nand discovered he couldn’t get a business license\r\nbecause of the zoning.\r\nHe took the issue to ZBOA, but they can’t change zoning,\r\nso now he was asking the Commission to do that.\r\nNobody spoke against.\r\nCommissioners had no questions.\r\nCommissioner Crawford Powell did tack on an amendment\r\nprohibiting adult entertainment, lounge bar, or night club.\r\nUsually his excuse for that is the property is near a church.\r\nThis time he didn’t provide any reason.\r\nCommissioners approved the rezoning unanimously with that amendment.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\n
        1. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nForce Main Break Repairs<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nThis was to approve payment for an invoice for repair of the\r\n\r\nrecent county sewer spill into the Withlacoochee River<\/a>.\r\nAs is the county way, there was no discussion of a longterm plan,\r\nonly “a very needed hasty repair” as County Manager Joe Pritchard put it\r\n\r\nthe previous morning<\/a>.\r\nCommissioners unanimously approved payment of the invoice.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        2. \r\n\r\nBevel Creek Lift Station Pump Repair<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nUnlike\r\n\r\nthe previous morning<\/a>,\r\nCommissioners had no questions.\r\nThey unanimously approved sending the pump out for repair.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        3. \r\n\r\nMem of Understanding w. Evidence-Based Associates, Juvenile Justice grant<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nIt’s a contract with a company to provide assistance with the grant, both\r\ngetting it and executing it.\r\nSee\r\n\r\nprevious morning’s Work Session<\/a> for more details.\r\nThey unanimously approved the contract.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
