\nThis is the summary sheet Kevin Beals presented\n\nat the Lowndes County Commission Work Session this morning.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n\n<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\nAssuming the dollar figures in the table are monthly charges to the end user,\nnote that the only one that comes out less than the current $100\/year\nis the $8.33 in the lower right corner: $8.33 * 12 = $99.96.\nPresumably plus tax, since this would be a private service.\nSo if the Commission chooses any of these options, we the current\nwaste disposal customers will have to pay more.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe upper end of $19.95 (upper right corner) comes to $239.40 per year.\nOr 140% more than the current price.\nA bit more to a lot more: that’s what we’ll have to pay.\nPlus\n\nthe socialized costs of privatizing waste disposal<\/a>,\nsuch as code enforcement to pick up trash dumped on rights of way,\nprivate fences and gates built to keep trash out, and other costs.\n<\/p>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nAverage is somewhere around $13\/month, for $156\/year.\nIf they simply charged that for the current service,\nthe already rapidly decreasing budget deficit for waste disposal\nwould vanish,\nand there would be no need to change to something else.\n<\/p>\n

\nOnce a request is received, Lowndes County will notify the\nrequesting party within 3 days regarding the availability of\ninformation.\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nSo if you file it today, you’ll get a response of some sort within\ntwo days after<\/em> they vote on waste management tomorrow.\n<\/p>\n
