That&#8217;s according to a\nnew analysis of regional businesses and employment. They say it will\nbe a way to generate job growth going forward. Many in the community\nagree.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nValdosta Resident Mark Yates said &#8220;if they could bring those all in,\nit would be great for the economy and bring a lot of jobs for a lot\nof people in town here.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nThat&#8217;s how Saginaw, Michigan, attracted that second Suniva plant\naway from Georgia:\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/12\/suniva-went-to-solar-valley-michigan-which-has-a-plan.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c326a9d17970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c326a9d17970b-pi.gif\"    \/><\/a>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/12\/suniva-went-to-solar-valley-michigan-which-has-a-plan.html\">\nit has a plan for solar industry and it gets it in the news.<\/a>\nWay better than\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/05\/minutes-online-vlcia-17-may-2011.html\">\nworrying what Albany thinks,<\/a> don&#8217;t you think?\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBy the way, Saginaw also goes for wind manufacturing jobs,\nand we already have one wind manufacturing business right here; more on that\nlater.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nIt sure would be good if the Industrial Authority,\nwith its 1 mil tax rate or almost $3 million a year,\ncould succeed in attracting some jobs here:\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nThe Industrial Authority also release d poverty rates during the\n2000 to 2010 decade in the Valdosta Metropolitan Area. The poverty\nrate increased from roughly 18% in 2000, to nearly 24% in 2010. It\nalso said that child poverty increased from roughly 24% to nearly\n32%.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nSecrecy is not the way; with that all they got was nibbles for\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/01\/pollution-and-a-private-prison-dr-mark-george.html\">\npollution and a private prison<\/a>,\nand even Sterling&#8217;s biomass plant and CCA&#8217;s private prison\ndid not locate here (fortunately!).\nHaving a plan is\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/06\/andrea-shuijers-opportunity-john-s-quarterman.html\">\nan opportunity<\/a>\nto do a lot better.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nThe Industrial Authority is currently in the process of trying to\nentice solar and broadband companies to move to Valdosta.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nYay Industrial Authority!\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-jsq\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"When the Industrial Authority came out for solar and broadband WCTV noticed.
