\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nUnscheduled: Emergency Director Ashley Tye said more about\r\nthe proposed juvenile justice grant<\/a>;\r\nKevin Beals announced the winners of the county’s\r\nWellness Weightloss Challenge<\/a>;\r\nand three\r\n\r\nunscheduled Library Board applicants<\/a>.\r\nYou can hear starting with the third of those last, but\r\nyou can’t hear the few potential appointees for KLVB, VLCCCTA, ZBOA, because\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nthe county’s sound system\r\nwas out (due to a consultant or lightning, depending on who you ask)\r\nand Gretchen didn’t notice and go to the camera’s mic until a few minutes in.\r\n\r\nThey did talk about\r\nfixing the sewer force main that spilled into the Withlacoochee River<\/a>.\r\nNothing was said about\r\n\r\nthe exclusive franchise for solid waste services<\/a>.\r\nMaybe you’d like to come tonight and say a few words.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nUpdate 24 June 2013:<\/strong>\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard said Commissioners had a letter of resignation\r\nfrom Bob Montgomery from VLCCCTA and a letter (he didn’t say who from)\r\nrecommending Molly Deese to replace Montgomery.\r\nSee separate post<\/a> for details.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nOf course, the Commission could just put the names of applicants\r\nin the agenda, and they could put written applications for same\r\n\r\nonline with the agenda like Effingham County, with half the population\r\nof Lowndes<\/a>, does.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nI recognize Paul Alvarado, so apparently he’s applying to be\r\nreappointed to ZBOA.\r\n<\/p>

      4. \r\n\r\nUnscheduled Library Board applicants —Kelly Lenz<\/a>\r\n

        \r\nThe Director of the South Georgia Regional Library System, Kelly Lenz,\r\nintroduced three applications to be appointed to the Library Board.\r\nThey spoke (even though we can’t hear them).\r\nWe also can’t hear their names, and the county hasn’t seen fit to\r\nprovide them, neither in the agenda nor elsewhere online.\r\n

        \r\n\r\nGretchen unplugged the county sound\r\n\r\nwhile the third one was speaking<\/a>, so we can hear him on the\r\nLAKE camera’s mic:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nIt is extraordinarily important\r\nto be able to sit down and read through and comprehend and understand\r\nand to have the way that we think shaped by what we use as tools to learn.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

        \r\nCommissioners had no questions.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        1. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nForce Main Break Repairs <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nThis appears to be the repair for the\r\n\r\nrecent county sewer spill into the Withlacoochee River<\/a>.\r\nAs is the county way, there was no discussion of a longterm plan,\r\nonly “a very needed hasty repair” as County Manager Joe Pritchard put it.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        2. \r\n\r\nBevel Creek Lift Station Pump Repair<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nSeveral Commissioners had questions about price (typical), life expectancy (6-10 years), subdivisions, etc.\r\nAmusingly, the Chairman kept trying to move on but Commissioners\r\nkept asking questions.\r\nThat’s an improvement.\r\nSince every other Commissioner asked at least one question, the Chairman\r\nfinally asked Commissioner Evans if she had a question.\r\nShe didn’t.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n
