Staples<\/a>\nrunning for the Georgia Public Service Commission for District 5,\ntalked about the ethical conflicts of the incumbents who take\nalmost all of their campaign contributions from people associated\nwith the utilities they regulate.\nThen he mentioned that the new nuclear reactors Georgia Power\nis building for Southern Company at Plant Vogtle\nhave\nanother $3.5 billion in cost overruns coming.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThis is after\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/08\/psc-rubberstamps-vogtle-cost-overruns-next-day-fitch-affirms-southern-company-ratings.html\">\nthe PSC incumbents just rubberstamped the Vogtle budget in August<\/a>,\nand on top of the\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/08\/vogtle-circular-firing-squad-delaying-opening.html\">\n$900 million in cost overruns we already knew about.<\/a>\nThat $900 million was already more than 6% of the originally-projected $14 billion\ntotal cost.\nIf it&#8217;s now $3.5 + $0.9 = $4.4 billion, that&#8217;s more than 31% over\nthe original total.\nMaybe we should vote in some PSC members and legislators who will stop this nonsense.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHere&#8217;s\n<a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/bA6F9lS-AIM\">\nthe video:<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bA6F9lS-AIM\" title=\"YouTube video player\" width=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"390\"><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<small>\nAnother $3.5 billion nuclear cost overruns coming \u2014David Staples\n<br \/>\nCandidates Forum, The Home Builders Association of South Georgia (HBA),\n<br \/>\nVideo by John S.
