{"id":3928,"date":"2013-06-08T10:53:38","date_gmt":"2013-06-08T14:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=3928"},"modified":"2013-06-08T10:55:22","modified_gmt":"2013-06-08T14:55:22","slug":"tina-anderson-new-president-of-wiregrass-georgia-technical-college","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/06\/tina-anderson-new-president-of-wiregrass-georgia-technical-college.html","title":{"rendered":"Tina Anderson new President of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\nFrom Moultrie to Valdosta, Dr. Tina Anderson unanimously appointed new Wiregrass Tech President.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wiregrass.edu\/news\/2013\/dr_anderson_next_president_of_Wiregrass.php\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wiregrass.edu\/news\/2013\/news_images\/dr-anderson.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nWiregrass Tech PR of 6 June 2013,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wiregrass.edu\/news\/2013\/dr_anderson_next_president_of_Wiregrass.php\">\r\nCommissioner Jackson Appoints Dr. Tina Anderson to be the Next President of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nAtlanta &mdash; Commissioner Ron Jackson today informed the state\r\nboard that oversees the Technical College System of Georgia that Dr.\r\nTina Anderson, who is currently the president of Moultrie Technical\r\nCollege, is his choice to become the next president of Wiregrass\r\nGeorgia Technical College in Valdosta.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nBoard Member Ben Copeland of Valdosta made the motion to approve the\r\nappointment of Anderson to the position, and the full board voted\r\nunanimously in favor of the selection. The announcement and vote\r\nwere made during the board&#8217;s monthly meeting at the TCSG\r\nheadquarters in Atlanta.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAnderson will move into her new position at Wiregrass Georgia\r\nTechnical College on July 1. She will replace Dr. Ray Perren, who\r\nleft the college in May to become president of another TCSG college,\r\nLanier Technical College in Oakwood, Georgia.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nJackson told the board members<!--more--> that Anderson is thoroughly committed\r\nto building careers for students and enhancing workforce development\r\nin the communities served by her college. &ldquo;Dr. Anderson&#8217;s\r\nstrong dedication to technical and adult education has been proven\r\ntime and again during the ten years that she&#8217;s been the president of\r\nMoultrie Technical College. I know that she&#8217;s looking forward to\r\nthis new opportunity to bring her leadership to Wiregrass Georgia\r\nTechnical College and work with its outstanding faculty and\r\nstaff,&rdquo; said Jackson.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAnderson thanked Jackson for the confidence that he has placed in\r\nher. &ldquo;I&#8217;m excited that the commissioner has provided me with\r\nthis opportunity to be involved with the faculty, staff, and, most\r\nof all, the students of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. I look\r\nforward to working with all the campuses and communities that\r\ncomprise the Wiregrass service area,&rdquo; said Anderson.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAnderson has been the president of Moultrie Technical College since\r\n2003. Last year, the college served almost 3,300 students on the\r\nmain Moultrie campus and three additional campuses in Tifton,\r\nAshburn and Sylvester.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nPrior to that, she was vice president of academics (2001 to 2003)\r\nand vice president of student affairs (2000 to 2001) at Middle\r\nGeorgia Technical College in Warner Robins. She was also the\r\ndirector of the career resource center at Middle Georgia College in\r\nCochran (1995 to 2000), associate director of admissions at Georgia\r\nSouthwestern State University in Americus (1992 to 1995), and an\r\ninstructor at South Georgia Technical College (1991 to 1992).\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nShe has a Doctorate in Education Leadership from Georgia Southern\r\nUniversity. Anderson earned her master&#8217;s of science and bachelor of\r\nbusiness administration degrees at Georgia Southwestern State\r\nUniversity.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nJackson told the board that he will ask Jim Glass, the executive\r\nvice president for academic affairs at Moultrie Tech, to serve as\r\nthe college&#8217;s acting president beginning on July 1 and until a\r\nreplacement for Anderson is named.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAbout Wiregrass Georgia Technical College (WGTC): In 2012, WGTC\r\nenrolled 7,503 students in credit programs and delivered more than\r\n121,000 credit hours of instruction. Continuing education classes\r\nare also offered. WGTC serves Atkinson, Ben Hill, Berrien, Brooks,\r\nCoffee, Cook, Echols, Irwin, Lanier, Lowndes and Wilcox counties.\r\nThe main campus is in Valdosta, with additional campuses in\r\nFitzgerald and Douglas, and a center in Sparks. The college also\r\nprovides adult education programs including GED preparation and\r\ntesting. Students of all ages take advantage of outstanding\r\ninstructors and hands-on learning with state-of-the-art equipment to\r\ngain the skills needed for today&#8217;s in-demand jobs.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nIn 2012, the TCSG colleges delivered 2.8 million credit hours of\r\ninstruction to more than 170,000 students.
