Under\r\nHarrell&#8217;s leadership, the city also constructed a $2 million\r\nstate-of-the-art recycling center expanding services while\r\ndramatically reducing the cost of curb-side collection for all\r\nresidents. In addition to his prior service as Mayor, Harrell also\r\nserved as a member of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs\r\nBoard and Chaired the Quality Growth Committee. He also served as a\r\nmember of the Governor&#8217;s Congestion Mitigation Task Force, Executive\r\nDirector of the Evermore Community Improvement District (CID), and a\r\ncharter member of the Metropolitan Atlanta Mayor&#8217;s Association\r\n(MAMA). His wealth of community and governmental knowledge is\r\ngreatly beneficial in growing the Metro Atlanta market area.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nMr. Harrell is actively involved in state and local government and\r\nis running for the District 106 seat of the Georgia State House of\r\nRepresentatives. He has had exceptional success in his previous\r\nemployment endeavors and brings the same responsiveness and\r\ncommitment to quality service to Advanced Disposal.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.ga.gov\/Representatives\/en-US\/member.aspx?Member=776&#038;Session=23\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.house.ga.gov\/SiteCollectionImages\/HarrellBrett776.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nAnd he was elected and\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.ga.gov\/Representatives\/en-US\/member.aspx?Member=776&#038;Session=23\">\r\nsworn in 10 January 2011<\/a>.\r\nSo ADS has at least one employee in the statehouse.\r\nAnd he has tried (unsuccessfully) to pass at least one bill related to waste\r\ncollection,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/Legislation\/en-US\/display\/20132014\/HB\/595\">\r\n2013-2014 Regular Session &#8211; HB 595\r\nSolid waste management; enforcement authority for collection of taxes, fees or assessments owed for local services; revise<\/a>.\r\nAlso, according to\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.house-press.com\/?p=1883\">GA House PR of 31 January 2011<\/a>,\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nThe Committee on Assignments announced House committee assignments\r\nfor the Georgia General Assembly 2011-2012 term. State\r\nRepresentative Brett Harrell (R-Snellville) was appointed to the\r\nRegulated Industries, Transportation, and Information &#038; Audits\r\ncommittees. Rep. Steve Davis (R-McDonough), chairman of the\r\nInformation &#038; Audits Committee, subsequently named Rep. Harrell\r\nchairman of the General Government Subcommittee on Information and\r\nAudits. Additionally, Rep. Jay Roberts (R-Ocilla), chairman of the\r\nHouse Transportation Committee, placed Rep.
