Quarterman for Lowndes Area Knowledge Exchange (LAKE),\n<br>\nVHS PAC, Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, 27 October 2012.\n<\/small>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nFirst they showed an animated movie,\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZPWH5TlbloU\">\nThe American Dream by the Provacateur Network<\/a>,\nwhich is mostly about money as debt.\nAs I remarked to one of the organizers afterwards,\nthat&#8217;s also the theme of\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Debt-The-First-000-Years\/dp\/1933633867\">\nDebt: The First 5,000 Years<\/a>,\nby David Graeber, one of the founders of Occupy Wall Street\n(here&#8217;s a\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zSnReXI4gKk\">\nvideo interview<\/a> with him,\nand\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nakedcapitalism.com\/2011\/08\/what-is-debt-%E2%80%93-an-interview-with-economic-anthropologist-david-graeber.html\">\na text interview<\/a>).\nThe cartoon movie, while presenting that theme in some depth,\nonly briefly mentions Wall Street\nand focuses on the Federal Reserve and an octopus-like long-lived financial\nvillain it calls Red Shield, which is English for Rothschild.\nI find that last a bit far-fetched, not to say outdated,\nconsidering that recent research shows that the real current\noctopus-like set of interconnected corporations looks more\n<a href=\"http:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2011-08-powerful-corporations-world.html\">\nlike this.<\/a>\nBut then plenty of things were said in the recent local\npolitical forums that I didn&#8217;t agree with, either.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-jsq\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A local group, LibertYOUbreak, met at Valdosta High School Saturday for a series of brief talks of opinion on issues by a variety of local people.
