<\/a>\r\nWhom do we have to thank for this sneak attack on USDA safeguards?\r\nThe agricultural sub-committee chair Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) —\r\nwho not coincidentally was voted “legislator of the year for\r\n2011-2012” by none other than the Biotechnology Industry\r\nOrganization, whose members include Monsanto and DuPont.\r\n\r\nAs reported by Mother Jones<\/a>,\r\nthe Biotechnology Industry Organization\r\n\r\ndeclared Kingston a “champion of America’s biotechnology industry”<\/a>\r\nwho has\r\n“helped to protect funding for programs essential to the survival of\r\nbiotechnology companies across the United States.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
\r\nThe Biotechnology Industry Organization’s\r\n\r\nPR about that award of 24 April 2012<\/a> says down at the bottom:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

<\/a>\r\nIf that award is such an honor,\r\nwhy are they hiding the pictures of Jack Kingston receiving it?\r\nIf Monsanto’s products are so great, why don’t they label them\r\nso we can tell which they are?\r\nWhy did a French court\r\n\r\njust uphold a conviction of Monsanto\r\nfor poisoning a French farmer<\/a>?\r\nWhy does Monsanto\r\n\r\noppose independent GMO research<\/a>?\r\nAnd why did\r\n\r\nhundreds of thousands of people just march against Monsanto<\/a>?\r\n<\/p>\r\n

<\/a>\r\nCould it be because of\r\n\r\nliver and kidney damage, cancer and birth defects, pollution of water and air,\r\nsystematic gaming of the patent system,\r\nperversion of the regulatory system,\r\nand corruption of the legislative system<\/a>?\r\n<\/p>\r\n
\r\nSpeaking of corruption,\r\nKingston has put the survival of biotechnology companies above\r\nthe survival of farmers and the health of the American people.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
