\r\nSee how the Commission does “the people’s business” one of the\r\nChristian minister Commissioners mentioned in\r\n<\/a>\r\nhis invocation<\/a>\r\nbefore another Baptist minister Commissioner\r\n\r\nexpressed concerns about a different religion’s choice of location<\/a>.\r\nNo explanation for\r\n\r\nwhy county citizens can’t choose their trash service<\/a>\r\nor\r\n\r\nwhy the county is suing a local business on behalf of New York City investors<\/a>,\r\nand\r\n\r\nhalf a million dollars for paving without any competitive bid named<\/a>\r\nwhile\r\n\r\none man says the county took his property for road right of way<\/a>.\r\n\r\nOne more potential board appointee showed up<\/a>, for 2 out of 3.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nThe other of two applicants showed up to speak,\r\nbut they quickly appointed the other one.\r\nSee\r\n\r\nseparate post<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

      2. \r\n\r\nSouth Georgia Community Service Board<\/a>\r\n

        \r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nAfter County Manager Joe Pritchard repeated\r\n\r\nmore or less what he said the previous morning<\/a>\r\n(except this time his microphone was working and he had learned how to say\r\nthe applicant’s name),\r\nthe Commission unanimously reappointed current Chairman Shamb Purohit to the\r\n\r\nSouth Georgia Community Service Board<\/a> to\r\nserve another three year term.\r\nThe applicant did not show up to speak.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

      3. \r\n\r\nPublic Hearing — REZ — 2013-05 Zipperer\/E. McCallum, 4850 Peat Moss Rd. R-10 to R-1, Well and Septic, ~2.7 acres <\/a>\r\n

        \r\nCounty Planner Jason Davenport again said\r\n(like the previous morning)<\/a>\r\nhe thought the primary motivation\r\nwas so the applicant could remove an existing home and move\r\nanother onto the property.\r\nHe said the applicant was present.\r\nHowever, nobody spoke for or against, Commissioners had\r\nno questions, and the Commission unanimously\r\napproved the rezoning.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\nApparently a different religion is what it takes to get a Commissioner\r\nto speak up for the neighbors;\r\nsee\r\n\r\nseparate post<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        4. \r\n\r\nBuilding at Clyattville Park <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nCounty Manager said\r\nValdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority (VLPRA)<\/a>\r\nwants written permission from the Commission\r\ndispose of a building at Clyattville Park that the Commission\r\nonce moved there\r\n(more detail in\r\n\r\nthe previous morning’s Work Session<\/a>.\r\nNo questions. Unanimous approval.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        5. \r\n<\/a>\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nBid – Soil cement, bituminous prime (with sand), and paving for Bayhill Drive, Pinewood Drive, Grand Pine Drive, Glenn Hill Drive, Bay Wood Drive, Bemiss Knights Academy Road North, a portion of Old Bemiss Road, Payton Place, and Dodd Road <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nPurchasing Director Kari L. Sands said staff recommendation is to award\r\nthe bid to Scruggs Company for $495,845.\r\nNo other bids were mentioned.\r\nCommissioner Page asked whether all the funds were LMIG funds.\r\nCounty Engineer Mike Fletcher said the only matching from the county\r\nwas labor.\r\nUnanimous approval.\r\nSee\r\nmore detail from the previous morning’s Work Session<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\nCounty Manager asked for an Executive Session.\r\nHe did not say what for.\r\nChairman agreed.\r\nIs that legal, an executive session with no stated reason?\r\n<\/p>\r\n
