\nThe recently\n\nadopted-by-stealth Lowndes County waste disposal plan<\/a>\nis already failing.\n<\/p>\n

\n\n\"VDT<\/a>\nSome residents in unincorporated Lowndes County have complained that\ntheir garbage cans have been taken up, leaving them without a way to\ndispose of their trash until Jan. 1.\n<\/p>\n

\nAllgreen Services, one of the waste management companies ousted out\nof unincorporated Lowndes County with the Oct. 9 Commissioners\ndecision to award a waste contract bid to Veolia Environmental\nService, has begun picking up the waste carts in anticipation of the\nholiday season.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWe hate to have to remove them, but we have to,\u201d\nAllgreen General Manager Sam Sullivan said. \u201cWe thought about\nwaiting a month, but the problem is if we wait until the end of the\nyear, we would be removing the carts around Christmastime. We didn’t\nwant to be out there then.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\n\"I<\/a>\nFunny how there was no mention of this possibility in\n\nthe County Commission meeting that adopted<\/a> this new solid waste plan.\n“I don’t think it could get any easier,” said Commissioner Richard Raines.\nIt looks like it’s not getting easier for county residents who want\nto dispose of their trash.\n<\/p>\n

PUBLIC NOTICE<\/h3>\n

\nLowndes County, Georgia\u2014Lowndes County has received several\ncalls from unincorporated residents indicating that their current\ngarbage collection provider removed their garbage container from\ntheir home without notice. In accordance with the proposal accepted\nby the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners on October 9, 2012,\nVeolia Environmental Services will be the service provider for the\ncollection of household garbage, recyclables, yard waste and bulk\nitems beginning January 1, 2013.\n<\/p>\n

\nUnincorporated residents that have their garbage container removed\nby their current provider prior to January 1, 2013, may call Veolia\nEnvironmental Services at 229-244-2466 and speak to a customer\nservice representative. Upon explaining to Veolia that their current\nservice has been discontinued, Veolia will deliver a garbage\ncontainer to the residents and honor the monthly rate of the current\nservice provider.\n<\/p>\n

\nEffective January 1, 2013, a new negotiated rate between Lowndes\nCounty and Veolia Environmental Serives will go into effect. \nHm, there’s actually contact information at the end!\nSeems like the County Clerk has been reading up on\n\nhow to write a press release.<\/a>\nEventually maybe we’ll see county PR with proper headlines\nand put on separate pages where they\ncan still be found after they vanish from the front page.\n<\/p>\n

\nWill that be before or after the county admits they messed up yet\nanother waste disposal plan by doing it in secret without public hearings?\n<\/p>\n
