\r\nMore\r\n\r\nsinkholes in Florida<\/a> in the same Floridan Aquifer that’s under us,\r\nthis time evacuating a church.\r\nMaybe sinkhole safety should be important here, too.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWCTV carried an AP story today,\r\n\r\nSuspected Sinkhole Forces Church Move<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nPastor Rick Shuck told WBBH in Fort Myers on Monday the sinkhole has\r\ncaused uneven floors, cracks in the walls and a hole in the ground\r\nso large that a landscaper fell into it.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nShuck says they had to end Faith Community Church’s Sunday service\r\nearly because “it’s just not safe anymore.” He says some cracks in\r\nthe walls are a half-inch wide and part of the auditorium floor has\r\ndropped about 4 1\/2 inches.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nGeological engineers say it’s definitely a sinkhole. But the\r\nchurch’s insurance company sent engineers who determined there is no\r\nproblem. So next month the two sides are heading to mediation.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nThat second picture above was taken in Lowndes County,\r\nshowing\r\n\r\nprintouts of analysis by a VSU professor of sinkholes\r\nunder a yard in Lowndes County<\/a>.\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nAnd they’re\r\n\r\nunder Michael McCormick’s shed<\/a> (see picture on the right),\r\nand they’re\r\n\r\nin his garage<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe same Floridan Aquifer is underground here as in Florida.\r\nPerhaps something needs to be done about sinkholes right here in Lowndes County?\r\n<\/p>\r\n
