\nEames Yates wrote for WCTV Friday,\n\nRecord Breaking Number of Early Voters in Lowndes County<\/a>,\n<\/p>\n

\nMore people have now voted early in Lowndes County than any time in\nhistory. Sherrie Luther was voter 22,00[0]…\n\n\"People<\/a>\nmaking her ballot the one\nthat broke the previous record set four years ago.\n<\/p>\n

\nIn the 2008 presidential election, there were 45 days of early\nvoting in Lowndes County. In this year’s election there were just 16\ndays. Nevertheless the record was broken.\n<\/p>\n

\nSherrie was rewarded\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

\n

\n\"Insert<\/a>\nwith a $5 dollar gift certificate for ice\ncream, but her vote symbolized the importance of something deeper.\n<\/p>\n

\nDeb Cox is the Supervisor of Elections for Lowndes County. She said\n“the voting process, the democratic process.. this is the foundation\nof our entire country. Everything rests on this. If this process\n\n\"23,324<\/a>\ndoesn’t work correctly nothing else does either.”\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n2,151 Friday alone, more than any other day in early voting,\nand 23,324 total voted in all of this election’s early voting days.\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n\n\"Lowndes<\/a>\nBut it did work correctly. In fact the only complaint is that the\npolls aren’t open longer. Early voter Robert Rodriguez “there’s no\nconvincing argument that I have that says that you can’t do it on\nSaturday, Sunday and Monday before the election.”\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nWell, as Deb Cox knows, there’s another complaint.\nThose voting machines say when you’re done that “your vote has been recorded.”\nBut has it?\n\nEvery electronic voting machine without a paper trail<\/a> has been\ndemonstrated to be easily subvertible.\nNow as she has reminded me before, she doesn’t decide what machines to use;\nthat’s the Secretary of State.\n\n\"Your<\/a>\nBut it’s an issue we need to get fixed, with paper trails.\n<\/p>\n

\n\n\"precincts\"<\/a>\nAnd for Tuesday there’s another issue:\nthe ever-changing precincts.\nCanvassing last night, a popular question was “where do we vote?”\nYou can look up your precinct and polling place,\nplus a sample ballot,\non\n\nMy Voter Page<\/a> by the Georgia Secretary of State.\nIf you have Internet access.\nWhich a lot of poor people around here do not have.\nOr you can call the Board of Elections.\nBut why do the precincts have to change so often?\n<\/p>\n

\nRemember,\n7 a.m. to 7 p.m.\n\non that great election day, November 6th<\/sup><\/small>,<\/a>\nat\n\nyour precinct.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n\"Vote!\"<\/a>\nSeveral recent elections here have been decided by less than 100 votes.\nYour vote counts!\n<\/p>\n
