\r\n\r\nOn May 22, Southern Company will host its annual shareholder meeting\r\nin Georgia, giving us a great opportunity to push them forward on\r\nclean energy.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nSouthern Company has taken steps to grow clean energy in the\r\nSoutheast — Alabama Power and Georgia Power both invested in\r\nwind energy and Georgia power increased solar energy investments\r\n— but they can do a lot more.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nSouthern Company still provides some of the dirtiest, most\r\nunreliable, dangerous, and expensive power in the country. And its\r\nsubsidiaries continue to place “Big Bets” on dirty coal electricity\r\nthat poisons the health of our communities’ water, air, and\r\nfamilies. Georgia is even home to the biggest emitter of carbon\r\npollution in the nation, Scherer Plant in Juliette.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nSend a message to Southern Company’s CEO Tom Fanning to thanking him\r\nfor clean energy investments, and demand that Southern Company clean\r\nup its act and invest in job creating clean energy.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
