\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nHalf a million dollars for paving without any competitive bid:\r\nit’s the county way!\r\nOnly one of three potential board appointees showed up.\r\nCommissioners asked a surprising number of questions,\r\nincluding about a water system trust indenture,\r\nbut not enough.\r\nThey vote this evening at 5:30 PM.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nOnly one of two potential appointees showed up to speak.\r\nSee\r\nseparate post<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

      2. \r\n\r\nSouth Georgia Community Service Board<\/a>\r\n

        \r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe\r\n\r\nSouth Georgia Community Service Board<\/a>\r\nhas a complete roster of board and staff, with pictures!\r\nPritchard said current Chairman Shamb Purohit was willing to\r\nserve another three year term and vice-chair Cindy Vickery\r\nsent a letter saying the board supported that re-appointment.\r\nCommissioners asked for some background.\r\nPritchard said Purohit was interim CFO at SGMC and had done\r\nan excellent job.\r\nHe said the board helps people with mental health issues\r\nand having somebody from the hospital helps with that.\r\nPurohit was not present.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

      3. \r\n\r\nPublic Hearing — REZ — 2013-05 Zipperer\/E. McCallum, 4850 Peat Moss Rd. R-10 to R-1, Well and Septic, ~2.7 acres <\/a>\r\n

        \r\nCounty Planner Jason Davenport said he thought the primary motivation\r\nwas so the applicant could remove an existing home and move\r\nanother onto the property.\r\nHe said nobody spoke against at the Planning Commission.\r\nCommissioner Crawford Powell asked if this would affect\r\nthe rest of the subdivision tract.\r\nDavenport said not, although subdividing was the other option the\r\napplicant could have chosen.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        3. \r\n\r\nMerciful Community Center Trust Indenture <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nCommissioners wanted to know why a trust indenture was required\r\nfor this new well;\r\nsee separate post<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        4. \r\n\r\nBuilding at Clyattville Park <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nCounty Manager said Lowndes County relocated a building to\r\nthe property that now serves as Clyattville Park,\r\nand that park was deeded to\r\nthe\r\n\r\nValdosta-Lowndes County Parks and Recreation\r\nAuthority (VLPRA)<\/a> on its creation.\r\n(Somebody finally turned on Pritchard’s mic in the middle of that.)\r\nHe said VLPRA now wants to dispose of the building since it no longer\r\nmeets VLPRA needs, and VLPRA wants written assent from the county.\r\nAlso he said the building is boarded up.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\nA Commissioner (John Page?) wanted to know what the building used to be.\r\nPritchard said it used to be a voting precinct.\r\nThere were no other questions.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        5. \r\n<\/a>\r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nBid – Soil cement, bituminous prime (with sand), and paving for Bayhill Drive, Pinewood Drive, Grand Pine Drive, Glenn Hill Drive, Bay Wood Drive, Bemiss Knights Academy Road North, a portion of Old Bemiss Road, Payton Place, and Dodd Road <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nPurchasing Director Kari L. Sands said staff recommendation is to award\r\nthe bid to Scruggs Company for $495,845.\r\nNo other bids were mentioned.\r\nSee\r\nseparate post<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        6. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nReports-County Manager <\/a>\r\n

          \r\nNo report, so they adjourned.\r\nNo Executive Session this time.\r\nTime:\r\n8:45<\/a>, so the whole meeting took 15 minutes.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
