\r\nValdosta has a larger solar installation than Nashville, Tennessee,\r\nbut Valdosta’s is hidden away at the Mud Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant\r\nwhile Nashville’s biggest is on its new\r\n\r\nMusic City Center<\/a>.\r\nWhich do you think shows the most leadership,\r\nand will attract the most business?\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nLightWave Solar recently completed the installation of a 211\r\nkilo-watt (kW) solar system for the Music City Center, and it is the\r\nlargest solar installation in Nashville.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nInstalled within the guitar shaped structure on the roof, the system\r\nconsists of 845 solar panels and four inverters weighing 1,800\r\npounds each. The system will generate approx. 271,000 kilowatt-hours\r\nper year, enough electricity to power the electric vehicle charging\r\nstations and lighting for the building. Over 25 years, the clean\r\nelectricity will offset nearly 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide\r\nemissions, the equivalent of taking 920 cars off the road.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“This project shows great leadership on behalf of the city,” said\r\nSteve Johnson, President of LightWave Solar. “We applaud the mayor’s\r\nvision in making Nashville a more sustainable city with a bright\r\nfuture.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\nAnd leadership can extend even beyond solar into water and habitat:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

\r\n<\/a>\r\nThe solar panels are accompanied by a 175,000 square-foot green roof\r\ndesigned to mimic the rolling hills of Tennessee. Local\r\nsustainability consulting firm, Wilmot, Inc., recommended the green\r\nroof for storm water management, insulation and habitat restoration.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nAny of this could be done right here in Valdosta and Lowndes County, Georgia.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
