Amy Carter withdraw\nthe bill that would have allowed Valdosta to put a MOST or Municipal\nOption Sales Tax on the ballot, which would have earned a penny in\nsales tax for the city, who would not be required to share that\nmoney with Lowndes County or other cities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nAfter negotiations over the phone and via email, County Commission\nChairman Bill Slaughter and Mayor John Gayle signed an official\nagreement for SPLOST VII Monday afternoon.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nHow could this be?\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<p>\nSo many questions?\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHow could this be decided with no vote by the commission?\nThey didn&#8217;t even discuss it at\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/03\/agenda-two-rezonings-and-a-lease-lcc-2013-03-11.html\">\nyesterday morning&#8217;s Lowndes County Commission Work Session.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhen did the city council vote to withdraw their &#8220;MOST&#8221;?\nNot at\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/03\/videos-rezoning-two-grants-fire-and-water-vcc-2013-03-07.html\">\nlast week&#8217;s Valdosta City Council meeting.<\/a>\nAnd why were they dealing with Representative Amy Carter  and not\nRepresentative Dexter Sharper who represents the majority\nof Valdosta?\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWas there a meeting that I missed?\n<\/p>\n<p>\n-gretchen\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"All over the news today: Lowndes County Chairman Bill Slaughter on radio 105.9 this morning; Lowndes County Board of Commissioners and Valdosta City Council reach a SPLOST deal (VDT).
