\n\n<\/a>\nCary Scarborough of\n\nDeep South Sanitation<\/a>\ntold the Commission he and his wife and son and daughters\nstarted a business, but he\n“didn’t think it would come down to what we’ve seen here lately.”\nHe spoke at Tuesday’s\n\nLowndes County Commission Regular Session.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\nI understand … that the county has a responsibility for the solid waste….\nI understand we have these big corporations, Advanced Disposal,\nVeolia.\nI know some of these people at Veolia, good people; they’ve got a good company,\nand they pick up several thousand cans every day.\nWhat we do offer the citizens here… we offer just a personal service.\nI know a lot of these people first hand….\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nHe told a story about a customer whose husband lost his job.\nHe stopped billing until the man got another job.\n<\/p>\n

\nCary Scarborough’s summation:\n<\/p>\n

\nDon’t do this to private enterprise, to an individual.\nIf it’s done to me, it will get easier later down the road\nto do it to someone else.\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nYes, why is the county taking customers away from a local business\nand giving them to a company that isn’t even based here?\n<\/p>\n

\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard,\n\nonce again,<\/a>\nwas mostly not paying attention.\n<\/p>\n
