Because I considered the anti-Agenda 21 campaign\r\na distraction from real issues.\r\nNow that ALEC&#8217;s &#8220;our state legislators&#8221; have\r\nmade Georgia an international laughingstock over it,\r\nI suppose it&#8217;s a big enough distraction to write about.\r\nBut the topic of this series is sustainability:\r\nyou know, exactly what the astroturf talking points are meant to subvert.\r\nSustainability is important, and we should talk about it.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a title=\"Better Georgia: Agenda 21 Full Video from Bryan Long on Vimeo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/8199530889\/sizes\/z\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fac970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fac970b-pi.jpg\"  alt=\"Better Georgia: Agenda 21 Full Video from Bryan Long on Vimeo\"  \/><\/a>\r\nJim Galloway&#8217;s 12 November 2012 AJC article,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ajc.com\/political-insider-jim-galloway\/2012\/11\/12\/georgia%E2%80%99s-own-52-minute-video-on-agenda-21\/\">\r\nGeorgia&#8217;s own 52-minute video on the \u2018Agenda 21\u2019 conspiracy<\/a>,\r\nnotes that the video some of ALEC&#8217;s &#8220;our state legislators&#8221; chose to play\r\nin the state capitol, like every other attack on sustainability that\r\nuses &#8220;Agenda 21&#8221; as a key talking point, also includes this:\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n\u201dThe Delphi technique was developed by the Rand Corporation\r\nduring the Cold War as a mind-control technique. It&#8217;s also known as\r\n\u2018consensive process.\u2019 But basically the goal of the Delphi\r\ntechnique is to lead is to lead a targeted group of people to a\r\npre-determined outcome&#8230;..\u201d\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nThe actual RAND Delphi study is\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rand.org\/pubs\/research_memoranda\/RM5888.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fc0970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fc0970b-pi.gif\"  alt=\"RAND logo\"  \/><\/a>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rand.org\/pubs\/research_memoranda\/RM5888.html\">\r\nreadily available on the web,<\/a>\r\nand it doesn&#8217;t say what Agenda 21 conspiracy buffs say it says.\r\nCome on, conspiracy buffs: show me where the RAND study says its\r\ngoal is &#8220;to lead a targeted group of people to a pre-determined outcome.&#8221;\r\nNobody can show me that, because it doesn&#8217;t say that.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nGalloway&#8217;s article says\r\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/08\/alec-responds-to-sierra-club-report.html\">\r\nALEC&#8217;s &#8220;our state legislators&#8221;<\/a>\r\nwere being taught that T-SPLOST was\r\n\r\n<!--more-->\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/atlanta.curbed.com\/archives\/2012\/07\/31\/living-atlanta-history-brought-to-you-by-twitter-youtube-and-internet-comment-boards.php\">\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fcf970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fcf970b-pi.jpg\"  alt=\"GA Gov. Nathan Deal, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, T-SPLOST PR\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"  \/><\/a>\r\nsomehow evidence\r\nof a regionalization conspiracy somehow associated with the U.N.\r\nGive me a break!\r\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/08\/wsj-misunderstands-why-t-splost-was-defeated.html\">\r\nT-SPLOST was backed by the Georgia and Metro Atlanta Chambers of Commerce\r\nand quite a few big businesses,\r\nplus the Republican Governor of Georgia as well as the Democratic Mayor of Atlanta.<\/a>\r\nAre they all in the pocket of the U.N.?\r\nAnd the opponents of T-SPLOST, much as the Tea Party likes to flatter itself,\r\nextended across the political spectrum,\r\nincluding the Georgia Sierra Club as a key\r\nmember and most Democrats I know around here.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/09\/httplaketypepadcomon-the-lake-front20110912m-to-widen-us-41-n-is-more-than-75m-for-a-bus-systemhtml.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fdb970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c33c04fdb970b-pi.jpg\"  alt=\"$12M to widen US 41 N is more than $75M for a bus system\"  \/><\/a>\r\nBesides, T-SPLOST was about as pro-sprawl and anti-sustainability as you can get,\r\nwhich is why\r\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/09\/httplaketypepadcomon-the-lake-front20110912m-to-widen-us-41-n-is-more-than-75m-for-a-bus-systemhtml.html\">\r\nI opposed it<\/a>,\r\nad\r\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/06\/10-million-t-splost-to-widen-new-bethel-road-for-lanier-county-sprawl.html\">\r\nnauseum<\/a>,\r\nand\r\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/06\/3-million-t-splost-for-sprawl-on-cat-creek-road.html\">\r\nrepeatedly<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nSeriously, someone wants to claim a pro-sprawl tax proposal\r\nsupports a case for some sort of anti-sprawl conspiracy?\r\nIt must be a very weak case to drag that in!\r\nNo wonder the whole world is laughing at Georgia about the Capitol viewing of\r\nthose astroturf talking points.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nNext: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/11\/the-real-un-agenda-21.html\">the real U.N.
