\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nSeven minutes, with some discussion about trucks<\/a>\r\nand irrigation of row crops<\/a> on a liquid waste application site.\r\nThere was no special presentation, not about \r\nthe Westside Archives<\/a>,\r\nnor about anything else.\r\nThey did mention this morning’s Earth Day event<\/a> again,\r\nand added a little bit of detail.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\n
        1. \r\n\r\n3 Trucks — Utility Department<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nTo replace trucks that have gotten too old.\r\n
          \r\nFull size trucks:\r\nLangdale Ford $21,893 each\r\nBrendon Motor Company $22,775 each\r\n
          \r\nBoom truck;\r\nVendors were asked to bid both a gas and a diesel model:\r\nBrendon Motor Company $85,400 gas 93,755 diesel\r\nLangdale Ford $89,432 gas $95,782 diesel\r\n
          \r\nStaff recommended the Langdale full size truck bid and\r\nthe Brendon Motor diesel boom truck bid.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall wanted to know what the boom trucks were for.\r\nUtilities Director Mike Allen\r\nresponded that they were used to pull submersible pumps out\r\nof [wastewater] lift stations.\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter further clarified.\r\nCommissioner Richard Raines pitched in.\r\nCommissioner Marshall said he’d like to see a picture.\r\nUtilities addressed the difference between gas and diesel, saying\r\ndiesel would provide greater longevity and thus better value to the county.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\nApparently not only does the public not get to see the Commissioner packets,\r\nbut those packets don’t even include sufficient information for the Commissioners\r\nto understand what they’re supposed to be voting on.\r\nAnd Commissioner Marshall, as he said,\r\nworks with such trucks in his day job at the City of Valdosta….\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        2. \r\n<\/a>\r\n\r\nLand Application Site Row Crop Lease<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nThe county spreads liquid waste on a site in the south end\r\nof the county, and likes to lease it out for a couple of farming\r\noperations.\r\nLast month\r\n\r\nthey only got a bid on the haying operation<\/a>;\r\nthis time they got bids on for row cropping.\r\nCommissioner Richard Raines asked whether “non-irrigated”\r\nmeans it’s not irrigated now, or bidder wouldn’t be allowed to irrigate.\r\nAnswer from Utilities: they can irrigate, although they’d have to dig\r\ntheir own well.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

        3. \r\n\r\nReports-County Manager<\/a>\r\n

          \r\nUpdate on\r\n\r\nEarth Day this morning at 11AM at the Courthouse<\/a>.\r\nat Judge McLane’s request\r\nwhite oak, red oak, and a hickory tree.\r\nShe didn’t say what species of red or white oak.\r\nShe said “the media has been invited”.\r\nThat’s curious: where’s the press release?\r\nCommissioner Evans asked if they had to wear their green shirts.\r\nCommissioner Marshall wanted to know if everyone got one.\r\nCommissioner Powell said Commissioner Raines would model one at that time.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

          \r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nJudge McClane is presumably\r\nretired-in-2008<\/a>\r\nSouthern Judicial Circuit Chief Judge H. Arthur McLane,\r\nwinner in 2011 of the\r\n\r\nState Bar of Georgia Professionalism Award<\/a>,\r\ncurrently listed with the\r\n\r\nSouthern Judicial Court<\/a> as “Senior Judge H. Arthur McLane”\r\n(I guess that’s their way of spelling “Emeritus”).\r\nA press release could have played up his eminence.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n

        4. \r\nCitizens Wishing to be Heard Please State Name And Address \r\n

          \r\nThat’s only at the Regular Session, which will be 5:30 PM Tuesday evening,\r\nwhen they vote.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
