\n\nMOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — A joint military exercise will be
\nconducted from April 21 to April 26 on military training areas at
\nMoody Air Force Base, Ga., and in the vicinity of the surrounding
\ncommunities.\n<\/p>\n\nThe 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, based at Fort Benning, Ga.
\nis conducting the exercise along with units from the 160th Special
\nOperations Aviation Regiment from Fort Campbell, Ky., 820th Base
\nDefense Group at Moody AFB, and Air Force Special Operations Command
\nfrom Hurlburt Field, Fla.\n<\/p>\n\nSoldiers and Airmen will use\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
<\/p>\n
\n training ammunition and other training
\ndevices to make the military exercise as realistic as possible.
\nAdditionally, a number of different rotary wing and fixed wing
\naircraft will be flying during the exercise.\n<\/p>\n\nThere will be periods of increased air traffic including low-flying
\naircraft, both helicopters and airplanes, during hours of darkness.
\nIncreased air traffic and noise will be associated with a large
\nairborne operation involving Army Rangers and Air Force Special
\nOperations Forces.\n<\/p>\n\nThis is a routine exercise, conducted periodically to maintain a
\nhigh level of operational readiness for the military personnel
\ninvolved. Safety surveys and risk assessments are thoroughly
\nprepared before and during military exercises. Moody Air Force Base
\nand the Army Special Operations community are extremely sensitive to
\nthe impact such exercises have on local citizens and intend to train
\nsafely and courteously. Every measure to reduce the amount of noise
\nassociated with the exercise will be taken. We appreciate the
\nsupport of the citizens residing in the surrounding areas as this
\ntraining is executed.\n<\/p>\n\nThe 75th Ranger Regiment is a lethal, agile and versatile special
\noperations force that conducts forcible entry operations and special
\noperations raids across the entire spectrum of combat. Tough,
\nrealistic military exercises conducted regularly give the Rangers a
\ndecisive edge for real-world missions. Exercises such as this are
\nthe best method to test their readiness capabilities.\n<\/p>\n\nThe 820th Base Defense Group was activated in 1997 as an
\nexceptionally trained force protection unit of 12 Air Force
\nSpecialty Codes with an airborne capability. At a moment’s notice,
\nthe group provides the expeditionary Air Force’s only worldwide
\ndeployable, “first-in”, fully integrated, multidiscipline, highly
\nqualified, self-sustaining force protection capability. There are no
\nother security forces or force protection units in the Air Force
\nwith the extensive amount of training, diverse deployment history
\nand multi-service validation as the 820 BDG.\n<\/p>\n\nFor more information about the training exercise, please contact the
