But we\ncan easily add that back in.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nCity of Austin posts\n\n<!--more-->\na video\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/02\/energy-efficiency-rebates-austin-texas.html\">Council Update<\/a> and council packets online with the agenda\nand videos of council meetings online with the minutes.\nPlus\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2013\/02\/speakupaustin-a-major-msa-and-local-government-transparency.html\">\nSpeakupaustin<\/a>,\napparently in conjunction with\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/04\/some-local-governments-partner-with-their-citizens-for-open-government.html\">\nOpenAustin<\/a>, &quot;a member-driven organizantion that promotes open government, open data, and civic application development in Austin, TX.\nOpenAustin was originally formed by Austin residents interested in the City of Austin&#39;s web strategy and approach.&quot;\nAustin is located in\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/12\/transparency-by-a-county-commission.html\">\nTravis County, Texas<\/a>,\nwhich also puts its commission packets online with the agendas\nand adds vidos with the minutes.\nDitto <a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/leon-county-commission-agenda-packets-and-videos.html\">\nLeon County, Florida<\/a>\nand\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.talgov.com\/commission\/commission-meetings.aspx\">\nTallahassee<\/a>.\nAll linked into\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boarddocs.com\/fla\/talgov\/Board.nsf\/goto?open&amp;id=94DS7W715CF5#\">\nweb pages per individual agenda items<\/a>, not in one big PDF lump\nlike Valdosta and Lowndes County currently do.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nTallahassee already has video up for\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boarddocs.com\/fla\/talgov\/Board.nsf\/goto?open&amp;id=94DS7W715CF5#\">\nits Wednesday March 13th meeting (two days ago) and they sing! With sunflowers (about 14 minutes in)!<\/a>\nTallahassee&#39;s video isn&#39;t as sophisticated as Austin&#39;s\n(Austin links into individual video items in its video),\nbut Tallahassee <em>has<\/em> videoof its council meetings.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/61355387\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c4c970c\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c4c970c-pi.jpg\" \/><\/a>\nLast year, I began looking at what other Georgia cities do to\nimprove our ability to reach more viewers-particularly the young\nbusiness professionals, students and others that may not be engaged\nin our city. I had a few conversations with media coordinators, one\nbeing the one in\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gainesville.org\/\">\nGainesville, Ga<\/a>. He is the one who introduced me\nto Vimeo, which allows us to host our information on demand for\nthose who miss the program or who do not have Mediacom.  I asked\nShemeeka to implement this, as it is a free service. We are now\nutilizing Vimeo at\n<a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/metro17valdosta\">\nhttp:\/\/vimeo.com\/metro17valdosta<\/a>, and I do\nbelieve it is  increasing our visibility.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nAmong Georgia cities, see also\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/are-augusta-and-richmond-county-special-in-transparency.html\">\nAugusta-Richmond County<\/a>\nwhich posts board packets with its agendas and videos with its minutes,\nas does\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/glynn-county-live-video-streaming.html\">\nGlynn County<\/a>, which also posts videos of its two planning commissions.\nEven closer to hand, both the Valdosta and Lowndes County Boards of Education\noften\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/agendas-with-board-packet-items-lowndes-county-board-of-education.html\">\npost board packet items along with agendas<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiainfo.galileo.usg.edu\/2003msamap.htm\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c5b970c\" height=\"266\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c5b970c-pi.jpg\" width=\"266\" \/><\/a>\nGainesville, GA, doesn&#39;t do most of those things, but then Gainesville&#39;s\npopulation is about 34,000 and Valdosta&#39;s is about 55,000.\nIt&#39;s true\n<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Georgia_statistical_areas\">\nthe Gainesville MSA has a population of about\n173,000 while Valdosta MSA population is about 126,000<\/a>,\nbut Brunswick MSA (including Glynn County) has population of 100,000\n(and Augusta-Richmond County MSA more than 3 to 5 times that,\ndepending on whether you count the South Carolina counties or not).\n<\/p>\n<p>\nLAKE has a vimeo account, although we mostly stick to YouTube because\n<\/p>\n<p>\n(a) YouTube no longer enforces a very brief length limit and\n<\/p>\n<p>\n(b) we prefer to post short clips so it&#39;s easy to link to them.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBut vimeo works fine as far as I know.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nWe can and will look for better ways to get the word out.
