With sunflowers (about 14 minutes in)!<\/a><br \/>\nTallahassee&#39;s video isn&#39;t as sophisticated as Austin&#39;s<br \/>\n(Austin links into individual video items in its video),<br \/>\nbut Tallahassee <em>has<\/em> videoof its council meetings.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/61355387\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c4c970c\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c4c970c-pi.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nLast year, I began looking at what other Georgia cities do to<br \/>\nimprove our ability to reach more viewers-particularly the young<br \/>\nbusiness professionals, students and others that may not be engaged<br \/>\nin our city. I had a few conversations with media coordinators, one<br \/>\nbeing the one in<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gainesville.org\/\"><br \/>\nGainesville, Ga<\/a>. He is the one who introduced me<br \/>\nto Vimeo, which allows us to host our information on demand for<br \/>\nthose who miss the program or who do not have Mediacom.  I asked<br \/>\nShemeeka to implement this, as it is a free service. We are now<br \/>\nutilizing Vimeo at<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/metro17valdosta\"><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/vimeo.com\/metro17valdosta<\/a>, and I do<br \/>\nbelieve it is  increasing our visibility.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nAmong Georgia cities, see also<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/12\/are-augusta-and-richmond-county-special-in-transparency.html\"><br \/>\nAugusta-Richmond County<\/a><br \/>\nwhich posts board packets with its agendas and videos with its minutes,<br \/>\nas does<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/glynn-county-live-video-streaming.html\"><br \/>\nGlynn County<\/a>, which also posts videos of its two planning commissions.<br \/>\nEven closer to hand, both the Valdosta and Lowndes County Boards of Education<br \/>\noften<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/04\/agendas-with-board-packet-items-lowndes-county-board-of-education.html\"><br \/>\npost board packet items along with agendas<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiainfo.galileo.usg.edu\/2003msamap.htm\"><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c5b970c\" height=\"266\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d41e78c5b970c-pi.jpg\" width=\"266\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nGainesville, GA, doesn&#39;t do most of those things, but then Gainesville&#39;s<br \/>\npopulation is about 34,000 and Valdosta&#39;s is about 55,000.<br \/>\nIt&#39;s true<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Georgia_statistical_areas\"><br \/>\nthe Gainesville MSA has a population of about<br \/>\n173,000 while Valdosta MSA population is about 126,000<\/a>,<br \/>\nbut Brunswick MSA (including Glynn County) has population of 100,000<br \/>\n(and Augusta-Richmond County MSA more than 3 to 5 times that,<br \/>\ndepending on whether you count the South Carolina counties or not).\n<\/p>\n<p>\nLAKE has a vimeo account, although we mostly stick to YouTube because\n<\/p>\n<p>\n(a) YouTube no longer enforces a very brief length limit and\n<\/p>\n<p>\n(b) we prefer to post short clips so it&#39;s easy to link to them.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBut vimeo works fine as far as I know.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nWe can and will look for better ways to get the word out.
