\r\nThe death of Kendrick Johnson at Lowndes High School in January\r\nis still considered suspicious by many, and protests continue,\r\nwith increasing news coverage.\r\nI hear there’s going to be a vigil at the Lowndes County palace\r\ntomorrow evening.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWCTV posted a compendium 16 January 2013,\r\n\r\nFather Speaks Out at Prayer Vigil for Lowndes High Student<\/a>,\r\nincluding statements from the Lowndes County Schools Superintendent\r\nand from the Sheriff’s Department.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nGeorge Boston Rhynes of course\r\n\r\nhas been on the case from the beginning<\/a>,\r\nincluding\r\n\r\nvideoing the protests<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\ninterviewing protesters<\/a>.\r\nAs he says,\r\n\r\nit’s a human rights issue<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“The unofficial ruling from the crime lab was that it was\r\ncertainly an accident and there were no signs of foul play,\r\nwhatsoever,” said Prine. “Once we get the final results\r\nback from the autopsy, that information will be made available to\r\nthe public. I feel very badly for the suffering that family has to\r\ngo through, and of course, our hearts and prayers go out to the\r\nfamily. It was a terrible way to end a life and we’re doing\r\neverything we can.”\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nKendrick’s family has reportedly hired an attorney, backed by a pair\r\nof retired homicide detectives conducting their own investigation,\r\nbut The Times’ phone calls to the reported attorney weren’t\r\nreturned.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nLowndes County Coroner Bill Watson has been in contact with the GBI\r\nregarding Kendrick’s autopsy, he said. But the Coroner hasn’t\r\nenjoyed the same level of cooperation from the sheriff’s office as\r\nthe GBI, said Watson, who also stated he wasn’t contacted when\r\nKendrick’s body was first discovered.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe Office of the Sheriff and the Office of the Coroner are two\r\nseparate positions, so critics are asking why is the Lowndes\r\nSheriff’s Department handling evidence to be given to the GBI?\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nWatson provides further insight about his relationship with the\r\nLowndes County Sheriffs’ Office to the Valdosta Times’ April 11\r\nstory.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThe District Attorney of the Southern Judicial Circuit, J. David\r\nMiller, met for the very first time with the Johnson family and\r\nlawyers this week— three months to the day that Kendrick\r\nJohnson was first reported missing on January 10.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nIf I’m not mistaken, this is the same DA who has been involved since\r\nthe beginning in prosecuting the Quitman 10+2.\r\nThe Sheriff, meanwhile, met with the family very early.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
