{"id":2974,"date":"2013-04-16T08:36:05","date_gmt":"2013-04-16T12:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=2974"},"modified":"2013-04-16T08:37:06","modified_gmt":"2013-04-16T12:37:06","slug":"watershed-meeting-organized-by-army-corps-of-engineers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/04\/watershed-meeting-organized-by-army-corps-of-engineers.html","title":{"rendered":"Watershed meeting organized by Army Corps of Engineers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfrmp.us\/state\/factGeorgia.cfm\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nfrmp.us\/state\/images\/USACE-Logo.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nThe\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfrmp.us\/state\/factGeorgia.cfm\">\r\nU.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)<\/a> didn&#8217;t know there was\r\na large water problem hereabouts, but now they do, and they want\r\nto take a watershed-wide approach, from the headwaters to the Gulf of\r\nMexico, including both surface water and aquifer issues,\r\nperhaps starting with redrawing FEMA&#8217;s flood maps,\r\nand maybe even including once again funding the state water council.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/valdosta-famous-for-wastewater-in-rivers-all-the-way-to-the-gulf.html\">\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" width=\"215\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.wwals.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/165275_486462496044_8097711_n.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nThursday 11 April 2013 there was a rather large governmental meeting\r\norganized by USACE in response to\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwals.net\/2013\/03\/13\/tim-carroll-of-valdosta-at-wwals-board-meeting-tonight\/\">\r\nthe City of Valdosta&#8217;s request of 11 March 2103<\/a>.\r\nYesterday,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwals.net\/2013\/03\/13\/tim-carroll-of-valdosta-at-wwals-board-meeting-tonight\/\">\r\nValdosta City Council District 5 Tim Carroll<\/a> sent the appended\r\nlist of attendees, augmented by a conversation with him on the phone 13 April\r\nand a blog comment by him later that same day on\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wwals.net\/2013\/04\/13\/watershed-meeting-organized-by-army-corps-of-engineers\/\">the original post on the WWALS blog<\/a>,\r\nin which he also remarked:\r\n<blockquote>\r\nVery good preliminary meeting that hopefully will yield real action on\r\nour region wide water issues.
