ESG will design, build, own, and operate the facility, which\r\nwill produce power by capturing landfill gas emitted from decomposing\r\ntrash and using it as a fuel source to power generators. This renewable\r\nenergy facility will qualify for a Federal investment tax credit and\r\nis expected to generate 4.8 megawatts (MW) or enough energy to power\r\napproximately 2,000 homes.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"BasicParagraph\">By\r\ncapturing these landfill gases, this sustainable project is helping\r\nprovide environmental benefits equivalent to the removal of emissions\r\nfrom more than 34,000 cars per year or the planting of about 38,000\r\nacres of forest annually.<\/p>\r\n<p>The power produced will be purchased by Green Power EMC, via a\r\nlong term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Green Power is a non-profit\r\ncorporation comprised of 38 of Georgia&rsquo;s member- owned electric\r\ncooperatives. Green Power EMC&rsquo;s mission is to facilitate procurement\r\nand marketing of electricity from renewable sources in Georgia and make\r\nit available to its member cooperatives to complement their wholesale\r\npower portfolio.<\/p>\r\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;ve been fortunate\r\nto find great partners like Advanced Disposal and Green Power EMC to\r\nhelp bring innovative projects like this to fruition,&rdquo; said\r\nGreg Collins, ESG president.
