Commercial)\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nIt&#8217;s for a Dollar General.\nCounty Planner Jason Davenport said nobody had called in.\nThe agenda doesn&#8217;t say which parcel is the subject,\nand the County Planner didn&#8217;t specify.\n<a title=\"Robinson Miltown Properties map\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/8247382260\/\">\n<img href=\"http:\/\/qpublic7.qpublic.net\/ga_display.php?county=ga_lowndes&amp;KEY=0250%20%20003\">\nparcel number 0250 003,<\/a> 101.91 acres owned by\nRobinson Milltown Properties LLC of 2605 Hall Ave., Tifton, GA 31794.\n<a title=\"Dr. Bobbie Robinson of ABAC\" href=\"http:\/\/www.abac.edu\/news\/2002\/robinson_chair.htm\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c344c8196970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c344c8196970b-pi.jpg\"  alt=\"Dr. Bobbie Robinson of ABAC\" width=\"106\" height=\"138\"  \/><\/a>\nAccording to the Georgia Secretary of State,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/corp.sos.state.ga.us\/corp\/soskb\/Corp.asp?1441884\">\nthat LLC&#8217;s agent is<\/a>\nBobbie Ann Robinson of 2605 Hall Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.\nI&#8217;m told she is the Dr. Bobbie Robinson\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abac.edu\/robinson\/\">\nProfessor of English and\nDean, School of Liberal Arts at ABAC in Tifton.<\/a>\nIt&#8217;s curious how anybody speaking in opposition had to show up in\nperson and state their name and address,\nbut she the developer didn&#8217;t have to do any of those things.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n<a title=\"Clayton Milligan of Lovell Engineering\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/8247382592\/\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" questions.\nCommissioners asked him no questions.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cENlKow9kn4&amp;t=1m50s\">\nMatthew Richard of 5569 Upper Grand Bay Road<\/a> spoke against.\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\nI am simply a resident of this tiny rural community.\nI moved to the country because of the values that I hold,\nthe peace and quiet,\ngazing at the stars at night,\nand just for an undeveloped life.\n<a title=\"Dr. Matthew Richard of Naylor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/8246315231\/\">\n<img Richard of Naylor\"  \/><\/a>\nI look around this area of Georgia and I see sprawl everywhere I look.\nI note that there are eighteen Dollar Generals already in this area,\nsurrounding Naylor.\nWe have a tiny tiny community of fewer than 3500 residents.\nAnd I have a couple of questions.\n<a href=\"http:\/\/ww2.valdosta.edu\/anthro\/faculty.shtml\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" class=\"at-xid-6a0120a58214e4970b017c344c81aa970b\" src=\"\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017c344c81aa970b-pi.jpg\"  alt=\"Dr. Matthew Richard of VSU\" height=\"138\"  \/><\/a>\nI was wondering if a market survey had been conducted.\nI was wondering if traffic contingency plans had been drawn up.\nI also wonder if provisions for trees to be planted around the area\nhave been made.\nI don&#8217;t understand why people would compromise their values\nof peace and quiet and rural living and a little bit of convenience\nwhen we have eighteen of these Dollar General stores surrounding us.\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\nCommissioners referred to the speaker as\nDr. Richard,\napparently being aware that he is\n<a href=\"http:\/\/ww2.valdosta.edu\/anthro\/faculty.shtml\">\na professor of Cultural Anthropology at Valdosta State University.<\/a>\nAll they asked was was how close he lived to the subject property.\nHe said he lived on the back of that field,\nand he reiterated his opposition to overdevelopment, adding:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\nAny development dollars that are generated are not going to help\nthis area.\n<a title=\"Dr. Matthew Richard location\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/98706376@N00\/8247382954\/\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" convenience store right next door already gone\nout of business once;\nthat&#8217;s why I asked about the marketing survey.\nI don&#8217;t think Dollar General is going to help that business at all\nhere locally.\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-style: normal;\">\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EvknIU9BREE&amp;list=PLshUv86fYkiGMO9kfsVzPKmwHYIRyjC50&amp;index=7&amp;feature=plpp_video\">\nNobody else spoke against.<\/a>\nCommissioners had no further questions,\nand also no discussion:\nthey never addressed any of Dr. Richard&#8217;s questions about\na market survey, traffic, trees, peace and quiet, rural living, or sprawl.\nCommissioner Diondra Nichols, who works for Moody Air Force Base\n(see another case before this same Planning Commission meeting)\nmoved to recommend the developer&#8217;s request.\nThey approved unanimously.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nFinal action on this case is scheduled for the Lowndes County Commission\nat its Regular Session of Tuesday 11 December 2012,\nwith a Work Session on Monday 10 December
