\nWill the Lowndes County Commission Tuesday evening\nfinish railroading through their non-solution to solid waste disposal,\n\n<\/a>\nwithout shouldering its legal responsibility to protect\nthe environment and the public health, safety, and well-being from solid waste,\nand what’s this about a vendor change?\nWill the Chairman once again invite a developer to speak in Monday morning’s\nWork Session without letting anyone else speak?\nWill the Commission change the zoning code and rezone inside and against\nthe Moody Exclusion Zone for that same developer they already\nprovided $130,000 in road construction labor to back in 2007?\nDoes Naylor need the area’s nineteenth Dollar General, and who’s behind it, anyway?\nHow come the Five Points library is still on the agenda even though SPLOST VII failed?\nAnd what are they doing to the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance this time?\nCome Monday morning at 8:30 AM and Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM and see!\nBetter yet, also call or write your Commissioner before then.\n<\/p>\n

\nWill the Commissioners finish\n\nrailroading through<\/a> their\n\n<\/a>\n\nalready-failing<\/a> non-solution to solid waste disposal\nin the last session of this Chairman?\nThe plan for which they held\n\nzero public hearings while any of\nthe Commissioners who voted on it this October were on the Commission<\/a>,\nyet someone down there feels free to\n\nanonymously ridicule<\/a> concerns about that plan failing?\nTwo citizens\n\nspoke up anyway,<\/a>\neven though\n\nCitizens Wishing to Be Heard<\/a>\nwas after the scheduled vote last time,\nand\n\nanother on this blog,<\/a>\nall willing to state their names, unlike the anonymous pro-trash-railroad\nridiculer.\nWhat was that\n\nunspecified new information<\/a>\nthat caused them to table it last time, anyway?\n<\/p>\n

\nThis agenda has five (5) Decorative Special Tax Lighting Districts on it.\n(And no, Quarterman Estates has nothing to do with the Quarterman family.)\nWhy will the Commission not even consider\n\n<\/a>\n\na special tax district for solid waste disposal?<\/a>\nIs decorative lighting more important than\n\ncommunity public health and safety?<\/a>\nWill the County Commission take up\n\nits legal responsibility<\/a>\nto protect the environment and the public health, safety, and well-being from solid waste, or will it continue to railroad through a non-solution that\nwill result in more dumping on roadsides and private property and burning\nof toxic materials?\n<\/p>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nWill the Commission\n\nchange the zoning code to help a specific developer?<\/a>\nThe same developer\n\nfor which back in 2007 they provided $130,000 in road construction labor?<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n* Even though Houston County has similar zones and is actually buying up houses in them to prevent encroachment on Warner Robins Air Force Base.<\/a>\n

\n7.a. REZ-2012-17 Lowndes Development, LLC, Davidson Rd MAZ II and MAZ III to R-10, County\nWater & Sewer, ~23.49 acres\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nWill the Chairman\n\nonce again invite a developer speak\nat the work session<\/a> without letting anybody else speak\non the same rezoning?\nWill the Commission\n\nradically rezone inside the Moody Exclusion Zone<\/a> (MAZ)\nfor that same developer?\nOver the objections of\n\nMoody Air Force Base, the Chamber of Commerce’s Governmental Affairs Council,\nthe Planning Commission, and at least some local landowners?<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n* Looks like it so far<\/a>, unless enough people object.\n<\/p>\n

Do we need a nineteenth Dollar General?<\/h2>\n
\n7.c. REZ-2012-19 Naylor Dollar General, US Hwy 84 East, E-A to C-G, Well & Septic, ~2 acres\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nDoes tiny Naylor\n\nreally need the area’s nineteenth Dollar General?<\/a>\nThis agenda, unlike the Planning Commission agenda, at least says Dollar General.\nBut this agenda omits any identification of the developer at all:\nno mention of\nRobinson Milltown Properties LLC\nor of Bobbie Ann Robinson, both of 2605 Hall Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.\nYet anyone who stands to object will have to\n\nsign up in advance, state their name and address, and whether they\nare a Lowndes County resident or property taxpayer.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

Library and Alcohol<\/h2>\n
\n8.h. New Main Library \u2014 Construction Manager At Risk Selection\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nSpeaking of railroads, apparently they’re moving ahead on the\n\nFive Points library<\/a>\n\n<\/a>\neven though\n\nSPLOST VII failed at the ballot box.<\/a>\nHow are they funding it?\nWill we get some SPLOST VII project list public hearings or\n\nreprioritization<\/a>\nbefore\n\nit gets on the ballot again?<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n* Houston County had public hearings and prioritized for fewer road projects\nin favor of helping their airport, broadband, and protecting their Air Force Base,\nand voters passed their SPLOST in a landslide.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n6.a. Revision to the Lowndes County Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nAnd what are they doing to the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance this time?\nWe don’t know, because they still don’t publish the packets they’re looking\nat when they consider at the Work Session and vote at the Regular Session.\n<\/p>\n
