Larry O&#8217;Neal called and gave him a heads-up before Gov.\nNathan Deal made the announcement on Friday.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cI felt like jumping up and down and screaming and\nhollering,\u201d Stalnaker admitted. \u201cBut then I remembered\nwe hadn&#8217;t done our part yet.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\nEncroachment has dogged Robins for a number of years. Some 250\nparcels \u2014 mostly private residences \u2014 spread over 1,600\nacres in south Bibb and north Houston counties fall within the\nbase&#8217;s noise or potential mishap zone.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThat risk to homes in the designated region could restrict or limit\ncurrent operations or force the Air Force to look elsewhere for\nfuture workload and mission growth.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nStalnaker has labeled resolving encroachment his number one\npriority.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nMike Stucka wrote for the Telegraph 31 May 2012,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.macon.com\/2012\/05\/31\/2044311\/interactive-map-robins-afb-encroachment.html\">\nInteractive map: Robins AFB encroachment and property purchases<\/a>,\n<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/news.telegraph-online.com\/mapping\/120530-EncroachmentBuys.html\" height=\"700px\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"620px\"><\/iframe>\n<p>\nGene Rector&#8217;s WRWR story says\nHouston County is doing something that Lowndes County could do,\nnow that the initial SPLOST VII vote failed:\nwe could put encroachment buy-backs on the project list for SPLOST.\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nChan Layson from the Central Georgia Joint Development Authority has\nsuggested that some $20 million is needed to purchase the 250\nparcels. Allocation of $6 million by Bibb County and additional\nfunds from the Defense Department already have paid dividends.
