{"id":2657,"date":"2010-08-08T13:25:00","date_gmt":"2010-08-08T17:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2010\/08\/proposed-biomass-plants.html"},"modified":"2010-08-08T13:25:00","modified_gmt":"2010-08-08T17:25:00","slug":"proposed-biomass-plants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2010\/08\/proposed-biomass-plants.html","title":{"rendered":"Proposed Biomass Plants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<\/a>\nLet’s select “other” in the\n\nonline interactive map<\/a> from\nJoel Achenbach’s story about\n\nThe 21st Century Grid<\/a>\nin the July 2010 National Geographic.\nThis map clearly shows the proposed Wiregrass LLC plant in Valdosta,\nas well as two plants proposed just to the south for Hamilton County, Florida,\nand one in Echols County, Georgia, which presumably would\nbe the Oglethorpe Power alternative site.<\/a>\nSeveral of the other plants shown are probably the other proposed Oglethorpe\nPower plants.\nMissing is Georgia Power’s Plant Mitchell in Albany, which is supposed\nto convert from coal to biomass.\n(Also if you select “nuclear”, the two Georgia Power proposed nuclear plants\non the Savannah River are missing.)\nApparently National Geographic edoesn’t have a complete list of proposed\nbiomass plants.\nI wonder who does, if anybody?\n

\nNonetheless, take this map of proposed biomass plants and\ncombine it with the \nmap of proposed new coal plants<\/a>,\nplus the existing coal plants in Juliette, Georgia (dirtiest in the country)\nand Albany,\nand south Georgia is slated to become even more infested with\npolluting energy sources.\n
