\nI didn’t pay it much mind and the book ended up in a box with framed photos\nbecause it was of a large format and besides, most of my books had already\nbeen packed up and moved.\n

\nFast forward to yesterday when I opened the box labelled “framed photos”\nand the first thing out was a book.\n

\nIt turns out that the book was\n“A More Beautiful America”<\/u>.\nCommissioned by President Lyndon Baines Johnson,\nNancy Newhall and\n\nAnsel Adams<\/a> created\na book that is as relevant today as it was in 1965.\n<\/table>\n

\nAdams’ photos illustrate excerpts from\n\nPresident Lyndon B. Johnson’s\nSpecial Message to the Congress on Conservation and Restoration of Natural Beauty<\/a>\n

\nThe speech is compelling from beginning to end.\n

\nThe beauty of our land is a natural resource. Its preservation is linked\nto the inner prosperity of the human spirit.\n

\nThe tradition of our past is equal to today’s threat to that beauty. Our\nland will be attractive tomorrow only if we organize for action and\nrebuild and reclaim the beauty we inherited. Our stewardship will be\njudged by the foresight with which we carry out these programs. We must\nrescue our cities and countryside from blight with the same purpose\nand vigor with which, in other areas, we moved to save the forests and\nthe soil.\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nPlease consider finding some way that you can be a good steward and\nhelp preserve the beauty of our beloved Earth.\n
