href=\"http:\/\/solveclimatenews.com\/news\/20101013\/us-solar-market-booms-utility-scale-projects-leading-way\">\nU.S. Solar Market Booms, With Utility-Scale Projects Leading the Way<\/a>:\n<blockquote>\nAmerica could add 10 gigawatts of solar power every year by 2015, enough\nto power 2 million new homes annually, industry and market analysts have\nclaimed in a new report.\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Solar Energy\nIndustries Association<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gtmresearch.com\/\"\ntarget=\"_blank\">GTM Research<\/a>, a Cambridge, Mass.-based market\nresearch firm, said the figures represent a tenfold surge compared to\n2010, which is on track to set its own record.<\/p>\n<p>A full gigawatt of solar may get installed\nthis year for the first time, the report, <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/seia.org\/galleries\/pdf\/SEIA_Q2_2010_EXEC_SUMMARY.pdf\"\ntarget=\"_blank\"><em>U.S. Solar Market Insight<\/em><\/a>, said\u2014a roughly\n150 percent leap from the 441 megawatts added last year.<\/p>\n<p>One factor driving the boom is the ramp-up in large utility-scale\nphotovoltaic (PV) setups.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nWe&#8217;d already heard\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/09\/solar-companies-booming-in-buffalo.html\">\nfrom the director of the U.S. DoE&#8217;s\nNational Center for Photovoltaics that:<\/a>\n<blockquote>\n&ldquo;The solar market is the fastest-growing market worldwide, bar none.&rdquo;\n<\/blockquote>\nHe said that in Buffalo, where solar business is booming,\na thousand miles north of here.\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brighterenergy.org\/13514\/news\/solar\/austin-investment-firm-offers-100m-for-large-scale-solar-projects\/\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   width=\"207\" height=\"50\" src=\"http:\/\/www.powerfinpartners.com\/new_site\/images\/logo.jpg\"><\/a>\nMeanwhile, a thousand miles west of here,\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/07\/100-million-for-large-scale-solar-projects.html\">\nin Austin, Texas:<\/a>\n<blockquote>\nInvestment firm <a\nhref=\"http:\/\/www.brighterenergy.org\/13514\/news\/solar\/austin-investment-firm-offers-100m-for-large-scale-solar-projects\/\">\nPowerFin Partners LLC<\/a> is offering to finance more than $100 million\nworth of commercial and utility-scale solar projects in the US and Canada.\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/07\/solar-power-and-georgia-power.html\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   width=\"290\" height=\"301\" src=\"http:\/\/www.georgiapower.com\/spotlightsolar\/images\/daily_solar_energy.gif\"><\/a>\nA bit closer, <a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/10\/houstons-renewable-energy.html\">Houston has successfully put solar\non rooftops and refitted for efficiency and conservation inside houses.<\/a>\nHouston, which has less solar energy on average than Lowndes County does.\n<p>\nSomebody remind me why the local Industrial Authority is promoting\na money-losing polluting biomass plant when it could be putting in\nan industrial-grade money-making no-fuel no-emission solar plant?\nOr why the local municipal governments and school boards aren&#8217;t\nleading the way with solar on their rooftops and efficiency
