\r\nThere was some discussion among Lowndes County Commissioners,\r\nbut their Regular Session on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, as they\r\napproved all the voting items unanimously.\r\n

\r\nIn her Reports<\/a>,\r\nCounty Manager Paige Dukes called on both Utilities Director Steve Stalvy and Fire Chief Billy Young about the current drought and fire situations.\r\n

\r\nSix Citizens Wished to Be Heard.\r\n

\r\n\r\nGeorge Fisher spoke about his water research<\/a>, which includes he’s discovered\r\nthe line of sinkholes running across the county.\r\n

\r\n\r\nPam Jarvis<\/a> and\r\n\r\nAmanda Hall<\/a>\r\nspoke about animal issues.\r\n

\r\nJimmy LeFiles<\/a>,\r\n\r\nMichael Noll<\/a>,\r\nand\r\n\r\nSusan Wehling<\/a>\r\nspoke about datacenters.\r\n

\r\nAfter the meeting adjourned, County Chairman Bill Slaughter came down to talk to several people about datacenters.\r\nCounty Manager Paige Dukes joined in.\r\nThe Chairman said it was their procedure not to answer Citizens Wishing to Be Heard during the meeting, but he made himself available afterwards.\r\n

\r\nI mentioned that the\r\nIrwin County Commissioners modified their draft datacenter ordinance after three Public Hearings, and passed it on April 6.\r\nThe Lowndes County Chairman did not say that they would hold public hearings.\r\nIf they follow their usual methods, a draft ordinance will appear on an agenda\r\nand they will vote on it.\r\n

\r\nI mentioned that the Brooks County, GA, datacenter moratorium expires May 2.\r\nThe Lowndes County Chairman said Lowndes County \r\nthere is still no datacenter application, and the county would not pass a moratorium.\r\n

\r\nCounty Manager Paige Dukes said she was looking at ordinances throughout the country.\r\n

\r\nVarious other people asked questions and got some sort of response.\r\nI will not attempt to transcribe those parts.\r\n

\r\nThe Chairman said everyone could go tell people what he said.\r\nAbove is my attempt to do so.\r\n

\r\nHowever, since there is no video nor any other recording that I am aware of,\r\nI could be mistaken, and the county has plausible deniability.\r\n

\r\nPersonally, I’d prefer answers during the meeting and on the record.\r\n
