They&#8217;ve parlayed their position\nbetween the Atlanta airport and the Savannah seaport for\nmany new clean jobs.\n<p>\nSuniva of Norcross&#8217;s second PV plant with its 500 jobs\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/12\/suniva-went-to-solar-valley-michigan-which-has-a-plan.html\">went to Michigan.<\/a>\nSaginaw Valley calls itself Solar Valley and collaborates\nwith governments, academia, and industry, winning thousands of clean\njobs in wind and solar manufacturing and generating plants.\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/opinion\/saginaw\/index.ssf\/2010\/11\/our_voice_alternative_energy_t.html\">\nThe Saginaw News remarked (7 Nov 2010):<\/a>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\n&#8220;Eventually, we see no reason why giant wind turbines made here\ncould become known as the best in the world. And then shipped\nacross the globe and to other parts of the nation from docks\nalong the Saginaw River, or on the railroads that tie Michigan\nto the continent.&#8221;\n<\/blockquote>\nYes, the VLCIA plays up I-75, I-10, the airport, and the railroads.\nBut where does it say Lowndes County is Renewable Energy County\nand where&#8217;s the strategy to bring in clean jobs?\n<p>\nWhat has the VLCIA been doing while Dublin and Saginaw won jobs?\n<ul>\n<li>Where&#8217;s our major solar generating plant?\n<li>Where&#8217;s our solar academy like Dublin&#8217;s?\n<li>Our solar manufacturing plant?\n<li>Our house efficiency retrofitting strategy\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/10\/houstons-renewable-energy.html\">\nlike Houston&#8217;s<\/a>\nthat would employ many construction people?\n<li>Our local agritourism map, like Tallahassee&#8217;s?\n<li>Our reforestation plan,\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/03\/the-jobs-are-in-the-trees-reforestation.html?cid=6a0120a58214e4970b01310fc6389b970c\">\nto produce twice as many jobs as biomass?<\/a>\n<\/ul>\nWhy is the VLCIA\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/12\/vlcia-biomass-event-qa.html\">\nwasting its political capital (and\nour tax dollars) on one polluting plant with 25 jobs<\/a>\nwhen it could be bringing in hundreds or thousands\nof clean jobs?\n<p>\nWhat kind of businesses will decide to come to a place whose\nmain new industries are a polluting smokestack industry and\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostadailytimes.com\/local\/x107495925\/Private-prison-company-picks-Valdosta-as-potential-site\">\na private prison?<\/a>\n<p>\nIt&#8217;s time for the VLCIA to come up with a plan for bringing in\nreal clean jobs.
