Here&#8217;s video of the referenced<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.typepad.com\/site\/blogs\/6a0120a58214e4970b0120a5d894f5970c\/post\/6a0120a58214e4970b0133f4063ab6970b\/edit\">air quality permit hearing<\/a>.<br \/>\n-jsq<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/sethgunning\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/media.linkedin.com\/mpr\/mpr\/shrink_80_80\/p\/2\/000\/049\/09a\/12196b0.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nRecently on Thursday December 16th, State Judge Ronit Walker denied<br \/>\nair quality permits for a proposed coal plant in Sandersville, Georgia.<br \/>\nJudge Walker cited the Georgia Environmental Protection Divisions failure<br \/>\nto properly review permits, and their lack of enforcement of basic Clean<br \/>\nAir Act standards for several hazardous emissions.<\/p>\n<p>\nFlashback to April 27th in Valdosta Georgia when Environmental Protection<br \/>\nDivision Air Branch Manager Eric Cornwell openly admitted to having NOT<br \/>\nREAD the air permit application for Wiregrass Biomass LLC&#8217;s proposal to<br \/>\nbuild a hotly contested 40mw power plant&emdash; during a Valdosta EPD hearing<br \/>\nmeant to evaluate those permits.<\/p>\n<p>\nToday, the Valdosta Industrial Authority is hazardously entrenched\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nin<br \/>\nits position to promote its pet-project, ignoring community concerns<br \/>\nand touting these \u201cexperts\u201d as the pillars of their work. All in<br \/>\nthe face of well-documented contrary research and testimony provided by<br \/>\nthe people they are meant to serve, putting Valdosta&#8217;s reputation and<br \/>\npotentially tax-payer dollars at risk of future law-suit.<\/p>\n<p>\nI, for one, would have never chosen to attend school at Valdosta State<br \/>\nUniversity, or chosen to be a resident of the Valdosta community if I<br \/>\nsaw elected officials and Industrial Authority appointees risking life,<br \/>\nreputation, and the tax dollars of Valdosta community members. As a<br \/>\nValdosta State University Alumni and former Valdosta resident I hope that<br \/>\ncity and county elected officials, and Industrial Authority appointees<br \/>\nwill begin listening to the well researched and documented expertise of<br \/>\nthe community who are meant to guide their work.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the text of Seth Gunning&#8217;s letter to the editor that the Valdosta Daily Times printed on 20 Dec 2010.
