Update 2025-12-27<\/strong>: According to a usually reliable witness, facebook live had technical difficulties for the December meeting,\r\nand wasn’t noticed until just before the meeting started, so there is no video of that meeting.\r\nI’m told the dogs and cats ordinance did not pass, but may come back in a later meeting.\r\nEverything else did pass, or so I’m told.\r\nIt appears the City Council needs to get some help for the City Clerk:\r\n“2.a) The Minutes from the September, October, and November City Council Meetings are forthcoming.”\r\n

\r\nValdosta Mayor and Council had a very busy meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2025.\r\n

\r\nFirst, some questions for Valdosta Mayor, Council, and City Manager:\r\n

  1. \r\nWhy does Valdosta not publish its board packets on its own website?\r\nSince anyone can get them through an open records request, they are not secret.\r\nThe board packets could go on the city’s own Agenda & Minutes web page:\r\n

  2. \r\nSpeaking of which, where are the minutes since August?\r\nThey’re not on that web page.\r\n
  3. \r\nWhy did Valdosta not do publicity about the\r\nseven (7) drinking water or wastewater improvement items on this December agenda?\r\n
  4. \r\nWhere is Valdosta’s video of this December meeting?\r\nIf the facebook live video is the official video of the meeting,\r\nwhy is it not linked into the Agendas & Minutes web page?\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

    \r\nValdosta complains people think they’re doing nothing about fixing their wastewater problems.\r\n

    \r\nMaybe that has something to do with the city\r\nactively hiding the details in unpublished board packets,\r\nas well as doing publicity about such projects.\r\n

    \r\nOn this agenda was an ordinance copying Lowndes County<\/a> in prohibiting\r\nsale of dogs and cats by retail establishments,\r\na resolution about Valdosta City School System Refunding Bonds,\r\nand another resolution about the Georgia Historic Tax Credit Program.\r\nPlus various equipment for Engineering, Public Works, and Police.\r\n

    \r\nThe agenda also\r\nincluded the three rezonings or conditional use permits heard last month\r\nby the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC).\r\n
